Understanding DNA

This post I want to discuss about Understanding DNA in humans. DNA is a nucleic acid that stores all biological information from every living creature and some viruses. Its chemical structure is a complex macromolecule composed of three kinds of molecules, namely pentose sugars, nitrogenous bases and phosphoric acid. The main role of DNA molecules is the long-term storage of information. Comparison of DNA is often exemplified by a set of blueprints, prescriptions, or codes, as it contains the instructions needed to build other components of the cell. Such as RNA and protein molecules. The carrier of this DNA genetic information segment is called a gene.

DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA comes from 3 main words namely nucleid acid (dehydrous acid) and deoxyribo. The meaning of the word deoxyribo is the sugar that loses its oxygen atom. while the definition of the word nucleic acid is a molecule contained in the genetic information in it. DNA can replicate to form a copy of itself, each strand of DNA containing a particular base sequence and each base also connected by phosphate molecules and sugars. When the base is formed horizontally, the phosphate and sugar molecules will form the vertical portion of the ladder.

Comparison of male and female chromosomes

Chromosomes are DNA molecules that exist in our structured body. Every human being in this world has 23 pairs of chromosomes, one of 23 (twenty three) pairs of chromosomes that are called sex chromosomes. different in men and women. Males have X and Y chromosomes while Women have two X chromosomes. Each living organism has a different number of chromosomes, for example the simpanze has 24 pairs, 4 pairs of flies and 11 pairs of bananas.

Furthermore, Genes are chromosomes arranged in short segments of DNA. If DNA is a recipe book, then every gene is its recipe, this recipe tells the cells how to perform the function and how to express certain traits. In this world humans have about 25,000 genes, these genes that determine the color of hair, hair type, eye color, skin color, and others. for example, a person has black hair because the genes inherited from his parents instruct the hair follicle cells to form black hair.
