5 years ago today we rescued our dog.
5 years ago we brought home our dog, he was living in an old static caravan with 2 of his brothers at a riding stables and never seen the world beyond the caravan and a fenced yard area where they spent the day.
When we got him home we let him run around the house exploring where he would live. This was the first time he'd been inside a house and while running up stairs after the girls was easy, he couldn't get back down. Instead he stood crying so I had to carry him down. I had to do this a few times until he worked out how to get down stairs.
In the first few months he had many first times such as going for a walk and running around on grass. Seeing traffic for the first time terrified him, especially buses and lorries. Even now he doesn't like buses but doesn't go into a panic when he sees one coming. I worked hard getting him used to being around people, walking him to take the girls too and from school and while he loved the attention of kids he would growl at most adults that tried to come give him a fuss. Losing the first 7 months in being training he had some bad habits and was playing catch up on teaching him was harder.
I don't think he's ended up with a bad life though and seems to like the comforts of family life and the house and watching the world drive by.
I remember teaching my little chihuahua how to climb the stairs, and to go down them, she loved to just go flying up them, she would by pass the two stairs into a slightly lower bedroom we had and just go flying over them onto the plush carpet, so cool to watch the little ones learn. You pooch seems to really love that whit little rug thing, I see him a lot with it in your pictures. I little girls have their favorite blankets and spots to lay also.
He does love his little comforts although at the minute he prefers the tile floor as the weather is a little warm for him.
