Week 20 (January 2019)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

I've got 4 domains to check out today that all sold last month in December. All 4 of these names sold for 4 figures. Two on the lower side and two on the higher side. Let's take a look at what's been bought and developed recently!

SlimeShop.com

The first domain is SlimeShop.com. It's a two word .com that sold for $1,286 dollars on December 2nd, 2018 at GoDaddy. The end user that purchased the domain is a company that appears to be selling... slime?

This seems like such a weird and bizarre business at first but hey it's the internet and people sell anything! They sell varying colors of er slime as well as beads and other slime accessories.

I like the domain for this company because it's their company name and it says who they are and what they sell. I would probably never have bought this domain as an investment though because I would imagine there aren't a lot of slime sellers out there competing for a good slime related domain name.

WorkCo.com

Next we have WorkCo.com. This domain was sold for $1,408 dollars on December 3rd, 2018 at GoDaddy. Currently the domain is redirecting to workcompany.com which is offering private offices, conference rooms and a common work space for individuals looking for such a space. Their site is definitely not done yet as they have a lot of missing links and info but that sometimes happens with new companies and new websites.

I like this domain. It's an exact match of their name so it's a must for them. It's short and easy to say and remember.

LVN.org

Next we have LVN.org. It's a 3 letter .org that sold for $7,253 dollars on December 3rd at BuyDomains. LVN is apparently an acronym for Local Voices Network. It's being run by a non-profit in cooperation with the MIT Media Lab, Cortico. They're a bit vague about what they do so I'll just quote them here,

With the goal of bringing under-heard community voices and their stories to the center of a healthier public dialogue, Cortico's Local Voices Network (LVN) combines in-person and digital listening to host, analyze and connect local conversation at scale.

Although these aren't my favorite letters, I do think that 3 letter .org domains are typically going to have a demand. The tricky thing is that sometimes the buyers for .org domains are non-profits that don't have a lot of money to spend. Other times they do like this example, so just be aware of that.

WooX.com

Finally, we have WooX.com. It's a 4 letter .com that sold for $7,195 dollars on December 4th at DropCatch. WooX.com is currently redirecting to WooX.cz and appears to be a Czech brand offering clothing, snowboard gear, etc.

I'm a fan of 4 letter .com domains. They're short and still relatively affordable for investors unlike 3 letter .com domains. I like this domain and I think it was a good move for this Czech company to grab it if they plan to expand.

Well, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
