Week 25 (February 2019)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

We're looking at another three domains this week. All three of these sold last month in January. We've got a bit of variety with a lower 4 figure sale, to a mid 4 figure sale, and then finishing things off with a 5 figure sale. Let's take a look at what was bought up recently and developed!

NetworkDynamics.com

The first domain is NetworkDynamics.com. This domain purchased on January 17th, 2019 for $3,297 at NameJet. Currently the domain is forwarding to NetworkDynamics.com.au. The company on that domain appears to be a web hosting provider.

I like this domain. It's a bit longer but still only 2 words and it's actually pretty easy to say and remember. The company with the Australian domain has made a good decision securing their name in a .com.

Koala.io

Next we have Koala.io. This domain purchased on January 16th, 2019 for $5,000 at Park.io. The company that bought the domain appears to offer online ordering stations for e-commerce as well as brick and mortar businesses.

I do like short, single word domain names. The only drawback with this domain in my opinion is that it's a .io and that could hurt in the future as this company grows. However, I do like .io for startups and tech companies and I do think it's becoming more acceptable to have a .io domain.

InternetThings.com

Finally, we have InternetThings.com. This domain was purchased on January 14th, 2019 for $10,060 at GoDaddy. It's hard to say what they do but it appears that they are an investment company that specifically invests in website properties or brands that have traffic.

This is our most expensive domain on the list this week and out of the 3 it's maybe my least favorite. It's not terrible and I do think it's an okay name but I think that the name is most difficult out of the three. Also a more common phrase, 'internet of things' or IOT as it's sometimes called is what comes to mind for me. Not necessarily a bad thing but it's not their name, there is no 'of' in their name. As this phrase becomes more known, I think this could be troublesome for people looking at this domain. I'm guessing this connection is also part of the reason for the higher price!

Anyway, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
