50 STEEM contest reward for our Brigada Eskwela Charity

When we initially planned the outreach program with the “Happy Forest Kids” managing officer Ms. Kathy Gadingan last March, we were positive that we will make it realize despite the lack of connections to different organization that could possibly help us gather the needed items for the success of the event. One of the main problem we are facing when we started promoting the event was that, there were only a few who are interested to sponsor/donate for the charity. We’ve sent invitation letters to different NGOs, Companies and Cooperatives but we only received a few response. Maybe because we are still "starting" to build a name in the field of mountaineering.

That’s why I am so thankful that I was able to join @tarekadam’s contest which the winner will take 300 STEEM that will be used for charity. The contest ended with a big twist. All participants ended up having a fair share of that big amount. There was no winner actually because all of us is a winner. I received 50 STEEM (which at the time I transferred to my wallet has a value of P8,566.71) as a contest prize.

I didn’t touch the 50 STEEM which was converted into ETH in my wallet hoping that the value will rise a bit more. But, all crypto coins dropped last week devaluing the ETH I have in my wallet. Hence, I decided to sell some of the SBD savings I have to add up to the money I will buy for School Supplies. I ended up having a total of P10,178.35. I cashout 10,000 which has a fee of 140.00Php. That left me 38.35Php in my PHP wallet.

Yesterday, Me, Reneboi and Jeremy went to a wholesale store in Chinatown which has a price value lesser than mall price to buy more school supplies. What we brought will be listed down below for proper documentation.

The total cost of the school supplies we bought is 10,990 in Philippine Peso. The school supplies above is still incomplete as we still need to buy Rulers, folder, scissors and glue. But the amount given to me was a BIG BIG help for the charity to be successful. The school supplies above can be equally divided into 74 packs which means 70+ children will benefit from it.

UPDATE 05/15/2018: There were more school supplies donated including the mentioned above. Our school kit is now complete. Thank you so much.

As of now, we are about 80% complete on the school supplies and we still have funds left that will be reserved for the transportation, feeding program and the salary of the barber that we will bring with us to offer hair cut to all the children and parents free of charge. For the food we will prepare meals to feed the whole community. Our menu will be Pancit Bihon, Fried Chicken, Rice, Macaroni Salad and Juice.

We are thankful that 1 week before our event, there are some good samaritans who donated/sponsored to help make this event a success. I would like to mention them here even though they are not a member of the community.

I am so thankful that there are people like @tarekadam who fully supports charitable cause like the one we are doing this coming May 19-20, 2018. I am also very thankful to the steemit community specially the one who introduced me to steemit Bren Samson a.k.a @collennes and to master Bobie Cayao a.k.a @bobiecayao for mentoring me on the right thing to do when blogging.
