The Doors

I feel like this picture pretty much sums everything up. Like Everything everything. Each door leads to another door. Every choice we make we pretty much make blind. Sure you can do your research, call a friend, ask a trusted advisor, consult a soothsayer... But ultimately, we can’t see what the consequences of our actions will truly be. At least most of us. We’ve just got to open the door and look.

Fortunately this first door was more of just a doorway, so I could actually see what was on the other side without having to open it first, which allowed me to make this point about doors. Which is ironic because if the metaphorical door were already open then that would kind of ruin the metaphor. For that matter then next door has a window in it, and I mean, it’s pretty dark inside but you can kind of make out whats inside. (It’s a temple so there’s a little alter in there. Sorry to kill the suspense...) But I’m sure you’ll grant me some poetic license here for the sake of conversation.

Anyway. If you’re having a tough time making a decision, I think in the end intention is really important. At least as far as your immortal soul is concerned. Sure good intentions won’t bring that squirrel back to life that you flattened by swerving left instead of right, but if you tried to spare its furry little life then you’re probably ok come judgement day. If you killed it on purpose you’re going to burn in Hell.
