A constant in every semester!
Every semester in school, it seems like I am presenting on the same exact company.
I am quite sure everyone knows about them, especially if you play games.
Valve!
They are an extremely popular game company in charge of the Steam platform, and popular titles include Dota 2, Team Fortress, Half Life, and over 20,000 other games on their platform. Known for their crazy sales and free game giveaways sometimes, they have amassed a ton of users on their platform. I think I login to Steam almost every single day.
And because it has such an interesting organizational structure, I find myself researching and presenting about it in Business class almost every semester, somehow, since 2014 or so...
One thing that is new is that there is an up and rising threat of Tencent's Wegame platform, because Valve has decided to partner with Perfect World, to provide Steam China users with a more official way to access the games and forums. Let's see how this competition pans out in the next couple of years!
