Has India taken a right step by abolishing those articles?

Greetings Steemians!

State of Jammu and Kashmir has been a matter of dispute between India and Pakistan, the two nuclear powered nations in Asia. These countries have fought many wars to claim this piece of land since they got Independence in 1947. Though, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is an Indian territory but, a big part of this state is under the control of Pakistan and some part has been occupied by China.

Indian constitution has temporary provisions related to J&K which gives it a special status. According to article 370 and 35 A of the Indian constitution, the state of J&K has separate provisions related to its citizenship, property rights etc. and many central laws of India are not applied there.

On 5th July 2019, Indian parliament passed a resolution to abolish those temporary provisions of the state but, it is feared that that would increased the problems of terrorism in the already terror stricken state. Even the leaders of J&K are against the step of the central government.

What is your opinion about this matter?

Has India taken a right step by abolishing those articles?

  • Yes. This will definitely unite the whole country and also improve the conditions in J&K.

  • No. It will increase the problem there and will also add fuel to the fire of terrorism.

Didn't vote because I really don't know what the effects will be.
On the one hand, I'm against centralisation and pro local governments, but one other hand there's a local government and locals directly and indirectly financing and aiding terrorism of multiple provenance. All of the recent terror attacks had links to J&K. And to add more suspense, J&K army was likely to revolt

J&k has no army of its own but, the politicians there misuse the special status.

I have no idea about these complex issues.

I have absolutely no idea about Indian politics.
My very uninformed guess would be that it is a good move in the long run.

Yes, I think it would be better than the standstill.
