What is your opinion? Is steemit a business?

Check it carefully what is the question please.
I am asking steemit. Not steem.
Steemit as it is wroten is a social media platform. But of course some people with bid bots and promoted posts they use it as a business.
Steem as a crypto currency have a options to invest so yeah that can call a business but steemit should be not.
My personal opinion is that in a long run if some people will continue the way useing steemit as a business it can ruin the blockchain. Instead i would like to see steemit as a onboarding option where you can earn for your content and than you can also invest your earnings.
So what is your opinion?

  • Yes, steemit is a business.

  • No, steemit is not a business but yeah some people use it that way.

  • Yes, steemit is a business but should be not like this.

  • No, steemit is a social media platform.

  • Other.

Steemit is a platform owned by Steemit Inc. Steemit Inc is a private company headed by Ned Scott. Every company is a business hence the platform is a business. This is also evident in the fact that they have now introduce ads on the platform.

I think your question is wrong because the description and suggested answers do not tie with the question.

I am not sure but I think your question should be Should the steemit platform be use as a business?

Note

Note that Steemit is just one out of over 300 applications/platforms on the steem Blockchain. Many people do not even use this platform but still abuse bid bots.

What I mean is that most bid bot users use other platforms like busy, Partiko and steempeak to post their content before promoting it with bid bots. Hence, you can not address only the situation with Steemit.

I hope you get to understand me!

Hmmm

Nope. I made this question because of one argue with a fellow steemian.

And as it is on the state of the dapps steemit is a social media website. It means it is not a business. They actually dont sell nothing. They product is for free so anybody can use it. Same with the rest of the dapps.
However many smart people start to find out how to make money here so now the website is not working properly. Or lets say the people dont use it in a way they should.
So this is the reason why many people think that this all is a business. Steem can be use for busienss but that is not steemit or partiko. Esteem or those dapps that they have beneficary they can be call i think a business because they make income from they users.

Anyeay i am happy that you wrote down your view because i am curious so much what is in the people's mind.

Steemit now displays ads which means they are making money off users.

Also, even without the ads, they are still earning a lot from the traffic generated by the website on a daily basis.

Honestly? I think that Steemit is a failure.
I don't even use Steemit nowadays.
At least not for blogging.
I read, write and edit comments, and I read and upvote posts and comments from Steemit, but nothing more anymore.
I used to claim my author and my curation rewards on Steemit, but since they separated the wallet from Steemit, I am claiming my rewards on Busy.org.
Steemit should be a social media website, but it is not.
Most of the people are writing blog posts, but they don't care about other people's blog posts.
The real, human interaction is rare on Steemit.
You can't call a website like that a "social media website".
I (and many other people) think that Steemit is a failure.

I know what you feel. But actually i still see the light.
Have you heard that steemhunt will give better ROI than a bots if you delegate? If many dapps will use this strategy than i think steemit and the dapss on steem will solve the problems.
And also me i am writing my posts to explain the people what is wrong and like this steemit will be gone in the future.

And i saw i am not the only one. There is many many steemians who want to make change. And i am sure together we can make it. By the way tomorrow i think i will make a better post about this topic.

Also as you can see half of my steem power is delegated. And half i try to reward the people who comment. And i hope they will do the same. Step by step.
If i make a dpoll for sure everyone will get my vote even maybe they dont give me but in long term that is doesnt matter. In long term we have to fix the issues.😉

Yes, I heard about it.
But you just said that Steemit should be a business, because you see the solution of the problems of Steemit in providing better ROI (Return on Investment), and if we talk about investing, then we talk about business, because investing is business.
I think that even if other dApps will use this strategy, Steemit will still not be better.
This strategy solve (or not solve) the problems of other dApps - dApps that are using (or will use) this strategy. This just makes the whole thing more business based.
Only the users can solve the problems of Steemit. By changing their behavior.
The problem is not directly with Steemit, but with the (behavior of) users of Steemit.
Technically (stictly on a technical level) Steemit is good, but the users are making it bad and unattractive by being selfish and greedy.
This phenomenon is pushing away both existing and potential new users, and this harms not just Steemit, but the whole Steem blockchain.

Hmmmm
I think if there will be less investors in a bot industry than the contents will be much different. Because investing in steem and steemit is a business but right now with this they ruin also the steemit as a social media.

So if the investors move to the dapps than

  1. The dapps also supporting the content creators by upvoting them.
  2. Less promo and bot based content will make a life much better for new or small steemians so they will be not that much disapointed.

This is just my personal opinion. But yes in some way i also know that u are right. Just i hope that those users will also move to invest in dapps insted of ruin the website.

I like the differentiation of STEEM and Steemit, so thanks for that. I think there needs to be some further differentiation, in that Steemit Inc is also a business, and in order to further the needs of the blockchain, as well as support their dApp, Steemit, they need revenue from somewhere to do that.

Those who own bidbots and lease them out for upvotes are businesses, but I wouldn't say they're so much on Steemit, as they are STEEM, since any post that appears on the trending, new or hot pages of Steemit or any of the other blogging platforms, from any source, can be botted up if so desired. So the business is running in conjunction, but it's happening on STEEM.

Which if we're just strictly looking at it from the business standpoint, is exactly what STEEM was meant for. Unfortunately, it does have an effect on the social media part, and in my opinion, not a lot of it is beneficial, at least not for the long term health of the platform or the blockchain.

I see we are thinking same way in this topic.
Me also i see the fantastic oportunity in steem but i am also worry because in long term this kind of use of steem and steemit can ruin the blockchain.
We will see in the future how it will go😊
