Should Steemit use the power of petitions to try and get community consensus on the changes we'd like to see rather than 'committees' ?

Should Steemit use the power of petitions to try and get community consensus on the changes we'd like to see rather than 'committees' ?

I like petitions. I think they are a much simpler and cleaner way to express opinion and changes than a multitude of non-inclusive committees and endless meetings and discussions.
As a non-techy, it would appear this would not be too difficult a DApp to achieve and already having the brilliant @dpoll at our disposal would compliment a community led democratic process without discord. It could be used for both internal and external issues.
@emrebeyler if we ask nicely could you create this for us please?
Please give your answer with your thoughts, I love reading other's opinions.
Thank you.Dchange anyone?

  • Yes. @emrebeyler should forget he has a life and work outside of Steem and drop everything to build this immediately

  • No

  • I'm decisive about the fact I'm not sure whether this is a good idea or not!

Well, I'd hope that a petition arrangement with comments could open debate and as we know the jumber of active users, the number of 'signatures' in a petition would be a moremaccurate pointer to opinion I'd hope.
Are you up early or just getting in from a late night mate? lol

I'm en train to work!

Rare thing these days thankfully.

Have you ever heard about "systemic consensus"? It's a method to vote with the least felt resistance towards a statement. If you like, read my article about it. I think it's a good method to come to consensus without this long debates about it.

I hadn't to be honest but I will go and read your article. Thanks :-)

Yeah, I don't think they care what the users want. Sorry to break it to you.

I'm sure they don't, but it would be fun to organise a petition such as 'We the undersigned want Ned to quit and dissapear off to a Buddhist retreat where he can spend a happy retirement playing guitar and having a daily colonic irrigation whilst leaving Steem inc, being run by competent professionals.'
Who cares if he didn't comply......half a million signatures would send a message and send the price of drama tokens soaring :-)
The other advantage would be I wouldn't have to wade through a barrage of steemalliance, town hall, msp waves, and lord knows whatever else posts and could stick to looking at cat and flower pics, thus retaining my naturally contented state of being :-)

Hmmm how has your day been @whatsup?
