What do you mean with the Alpha Pack situation? What is the problem? Some Alpha packs are still around and they are un-opened but will be sold in the future. Some of the packs are still locked in the kickstarter funding, but they will also come soon to the market. Overall, the DEX Steemmonsters Market is open 24/7 whoever wants to buy/sell or hodl is free to do so at anytime.

Exactly.

There is no problem. Example: Some investors have bought many thousands of alpha packs and not opened them.

The question is: Are the remaining alpha packs more valuable unopened?

Well, I think one way of calculating the market price of these Alpha Packs, is to check the drop statistics of each cards rarity. If you than calculate, lets say purchase 100 Packs, than you would have a statistic on how many common cards, rare cards, epic cards, legendary cards and gold cards will be dropped when you open all of the 100 Packs. Than you will know how much all those cards are worth on the market. I think somebody (I guess @jarvie) put out a spreadsheet about it and he calculated that most of the times you will make about 30% loss when you purchase Packs compared to market value card prices.
So should these Alpha Packs be more worth? No, right now the 2$ price is fine, but if the card prices for all rarities are raising than yes the Alpha Packs should also rise in price, but be aware there will always be a premium to be paid because of the "lucky - Gold Card Element" that you pay for the Packs.
