Do You Believe in Democracy: Does Majority Makes It Right?

You can read great many of these at https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries Those who don't know the truth about DPoS and other great projects which amounts to the majority of the cryptosphere only believe in few projects like BTC, LTC and ETH which are all practically relics. Hitler rose to power through Democratic means:

I am surprised at how many people get this incorrect and wonder how many of the people saying “No” are Americans that have no experience of, or understanding regarding parliamemtary government? The correct answers are either “Yes,” “Yes and No,” or “It’s complicated.” I hate semantics myself and would declare a straight up, “Yes, Hitler was democratically elected.”

Weimar Germany had a parliamentary Reichstag, based on a quota system. The focus, like all parliamentary systems, is on the party, not the individual and parliamentary systems have multiple parties. They do not just have two as in the US, so having 50% of the vote or more is irrelevant, all that matters is that you have the largest minority and if that minority is insufficient for a clear majority as defined in their constitution, you simply form a coalition government.

Hitler becoming Chancelor in 1933 resulted from the democratically elected seats that his party held. As head of the party, Hitler could either be directly elected to a position, like the one he lost to Hindenburg, or he could gain the Chancellorship by his party having a clear majority in the Reichstag and get appointed by the President, OR HE COULD become Chancellor without a clear majority via a coalition government… It is the last option that saw Hitler rise to power and the “back room deals” many Americans lament as having got him there, were simply a normal part of forming a coalition government in a democratic parliamentary system. Hitler’s party was elected, it formed a legitimately democratic coalition government with a condition of that coalition being Hitler’s appointment to the chancellery… Which was just the German title (although much weaker position) of Prime Minister. So yes, Hitler was elected via his role as party leader within a democratic institution.

Most people also used to believe that the Earth is flat and now about half of the US population favors socialism. It was commonly accepted that the abolition of slavery would wreck the economy. Does any of these things I mentioned make any of those things right?

I know that STEEM blockchain doesn't represent the "Average Person". I'd just like to know what is the general consensus about Democracy and on STEEM.

  • Yes I Believe in Democracy

  • No I don't Believe in Democracy

  • Democracy is Snake Oil Squared

  • I Have Mixed Feelings

  • I Only Like Direct Democracy Such As Practiced in Liechtenstein

  • Indirect Democracy is Snake Oil Squared - Direct Democracy Can Be Good on A Smaller Scale Communities and Private Organizations

Answer the question at dpoll.xyz.

Sort:

I believe on DIRECT democracy. Each human must have equal voice on every common meters of the community.
But we need make some tweeks even to a direct democracy. Like this:
If your voice is declined - you must keep this voice for future disputs. If your voice is accepted - it's gone. So if 1% of people REALLY whant to pass this 1 of 100 laws - they will be able to do so. If majority of 51% want to make they own laws, they will be able to do this with 51% of laws.
If 51% makes 100% decisions - it's a totalitarism, not a democracy.

Good thinking.

People already live in anarchy anyway.
Only in an emergency is the police called (except in the case of statesmen) and bureaucracy is also a burden.
Blockchain can free people from this burden and make states superfluous.
Anarchy is about living together, without domination.
Of course, it makes no sense to introduce anarchy while unfair distribution prevails, which also makes the transition from the current system to anarchy very difficult.
There will always be people who try to gain an unfair advantage. But it has to be determined first what is unfair.
Mankind will still have many problems to solve.
For example, how to give a newborn the same chances.
Because a person is born without property and the world is already divided...
It was divided long before us (imperialism) And we still live in feudalism.

Why should democracy aka mob rule (even if there was no corruption) be better?
It's automatically implemented discriminating minorities due they have no Chance in mob rule.

how to give a newborn the same chances.

In my opinion this is the most important thing. I don't believe in redistribution. But we must give the highest priority to equal opportunity. This doesn't men ban private tuition or anything. It's abut making sure everyone is given a proverbial blind audition. In many ways talent shows are kind of doing this. Technology is also greatly helpful with digital distribution and freely available software. (even ones like Unreal Engine 4 which would take millions to access is free - You just pay 5% of gross when your game actually make above certain amount of money) Even STEEM has helped many people despite some massive flaws. Imagine how things would be if the rewarding was done much better.

Yeah totally agree.
That's why I believe in open-source and technology.
Voluntariness is a big fundamental of both anarchy and open-source technology.
And I think we have many similar opinions ;)

Yep. Following you for more.

Thanks man. I follow you for a few weeks already ;)
While Im planning on writing an article on the anarchy topic, I still don't know if I'm ready.
Also, I mainly post in german, trying to strengthen the community. But you could always use deepl.com to translate it via AI.
Maybe I'll start an english account in the future.. we will see.

Democracy is the worst form of government. It is merely a transition phase towards socialist dictatorship. A political system, in which the ill-educated, over-emotional rabble will select annual governors of quality, amids its unlettered "peers," is either a tragedy or a farce.
