Drones Now Responding to 911 Calls

in #drones5 years ago

Drones are increasingly being used in a wide range of commercial settings, and now they're being used to help respond to emergency 911 calls in California.

Drones are a lot faster than emergency vehicles and they can greatly reduce the response time that it takes to respond to an emergency call, seconds can make all the difference.

In San Diego, officers recently decided to deploy one of their drones, when all of their officers had already been out responding to high-priority calls.

There wasn't anyone to respond when a priority call came in, so that is when the officers turned to their new emergency response tool and activated the drone. The drone was able to collect footage from the scene that helped officers to understand and know exactly where to find the individuals they were looking for, as well as what had occurred before they got there.

Drones have already proven useful in helping to assist with car crashes and locating missing persons. They are also being used increasingly in the medical field, to deliver medical supplies and more. They have proven to be a cost-effective solution for the healthcare industry, for emergency response, and many other areas in the market.

There are now hundreds of police agencies and fire departments across the country that have outfitted their teams with drone technology.

Police in California admit that they've already used the drones to help them make dozens of arrests. They also suggest that arrests are up since they've implemented their own drone program.

From California, to North Carolina, Massachusetts, and other areas, drones are increasingly being implemented in different industry sectors, helping to carry-out a variety of delivery duties, security tasks, and more. It might not be very long before you see a drone show up at your door the next time that you make a call to emergency services.

If used for good, these drones can be very helpful,
used for evil, lets just say arrests for jaywalking are up.

But, what do you do, when police officers become the Gestapo?

Whoa.. That's interesting. Not surprising since I've predicted this would happen for a while and there have been other examples in the past of law enforcement using drones. Though the fact they are becoming more common is interesting indeed. Times are changing, and in some ways I think it can be a good thing as drones can be very helpful, though in other ways it's a sort of a lil creepy and concerning as well..

Cant wait till Amazon drops my order via drone in 2 hours instead of 2 days lol.

unless it gets intercepted 😄 all those porch pirates out there

Coming to a front-door near you!

This should be used specifically for the 100+ idiots in Los Angeles who called 911 when facebook was down for over 2 hours last year.... (yes, that really happened!).. But the drones should be armed with airsoft pellet guns to shoot those people right in the foreheads before dropping a piece of paper explaining how 911 cannot assist with dead facebook servers.
