The Heart of the Matter, an oil painting on the India theme
The idea of this painting is that the heart is the center of the Self. Indian women often wear this type of jewelry, and I thought the heart shaped pendant went well with my theme.
The composition is, as often with my work, a mixture of natural elements, drapery, and landscape. And I always try to remind myself and others that humans are not outside of the natural world reacting to it, but as much part of nature as flowers and birds. Unfortunately this has been forgotten by many, which has led to a lack of harmony with the other living creatures, endangering all concerned.
