Why the future tokens airdrop from drugwars was not really a free gift.

This is what drugwars announced 2 weeks ago:

We are happy to announce that there will be some gift giving from our part. You have been and will continue to be valuable to us so you deserve some extra rewards. Get ready because you are about to get your hands on some free FUTURE tokens! The airdrop will last for a couple of weeks so you have plenty of time to get your FREE FUTURE TOKENS

Everyone who spend Steem on the game received a certain amount of "free" future tokens. It's not really a gift like they make it seem because everyone who spend Steem on the game got those tokens. So there are a few possibilities: or you upgrade things in drugwars with your tokens, or you try to sell them on the market to other people. (You could also HODL them as third option.)

It's basically a zero sum game because when most (paying) players start upgrading the drug production with their "free" tokens you still don't make any progress in the game. Because this doesn't make the reward pool go up because we all got these upgrades "for free". The reward pool doesn't get any bigger by it.

You could also sell your tokens on the market for a much lower price than they claim they are worth. In the shop of drugwars you can buy future tokens for 5 dollar per 1000 tokens but if you would sell them you get much less. You will then earn even less Steem rewards in drugwars because other people will use their future to upgrade and therefore you get a smaller piece of the rewards pool.

Actually it's not completely a zero sum game because people who didn't spend Steem on the game didn't receive future tokens, but among paying players it won't make much difference in the end.
