Gabán y Catira.

A warm musical greeting.

Among the variations of the genus Joropo are the Gaban and the Catira, traditional of Venezuela. Both are written in 3/4 time, the accompanying harmonic structure is simple, in the case of the Gaban it is tonic and dominant and in the Catira it is tonic, fourth (subdominant) and fifth (dominant). This does not mean that it is not complex for the singer or instrumentalist who has to make obligatory and improvised melodies, turning each performance into an original theme.
The gaban is a small eagle and the Catira we call Caucasian women green or blue eyes.
On this occasion I bring you a Gown and from the 1:30 minute onwards I bring it together with a Catira.

Entre las variaciones que hay del género Joropo se encuentran el Gabán y la Catira, tradicional de Venezuela. Ambos se escriben en compás de 3/4 , la estructura armónica de acompañamiento es sencilla, en el caso del Gabán es tónica y dominante y en la Catira es tónica, cuarta (subdominante) y quinta (dominante). No por esto deja de ser complejo para el cantante o instrumentista que debe hacer melodías obligadas e improvisadas convirtiéndose cada ejecución en un tema original.
En esta ocasión te traigo un Gabán y a partir del minuto 1:30 lo uno con una Catira.
El gaban es un águila pequeña y la Catira le decimos a las mujeres caucásicas ojos verdes o azules.
