The Home Of The IFC - Lyrics by @bashadow - Music by Ed Privat

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

Hello dear friends !

Today, I am going out of my comfort zone and fulfill a special request, I got approached nearly 2 months ago by @bashadow who wanted to have his lyrics/poem that he wrote Information Finding Championship - Season 1 : Round 22 - - - Music to be turn into music.

I had a guideline, which was to compose the song in the style of the Grateful Dead, and more particularly the Pop-Folk era, so I channeled my inner hippie and this what I came up with!
i apologize it took me so long to fulfill your task, it took me actually more time than expected, i got the flu, here I am making excuses :P
I hope that @apolymask , @bashadow and the whole crew at the IFC enjoys it , you guys are rockstars !

Special shout out to @kryptoe and @nakedverse I think you both inspired me for the arrangement...

Lyrics by @bashadow

I once was a pauper as poor as could be,
As I walked through the woods what did I see,
A castle so tall just waiting for me
I approached the tall door as tall as could be,
I knocked and I listened and heard some foot falls.
A kindly young man had answered my call.
I asked my question as fear held to me,
what is this place, may I come in and see?
I looked around him and could it be;
An empty cobbler shack waiting for me?
I knocked and I listened and heard some foot falls.
A kindly young man had answered my call.
This is the home of the IFC,
we teach and we learn how to be free,
we ask of our staff and members to be,
find the information and bring it to me.
I knocked and I listened and heard some foot falls.
A kindly young man had answered my call.
I learned that his name was Apolymask,
the questions he asked all led to new task.
People from close and people from afar,
all were welcomed no one was barred.
I knocked and I listened and heard some foot falls.
A kindly young man had answered my call.
And so we all gather and take up the task
find the best info for the man with the mask.
It's about the task and so much more,
if we had fun then we all scored.
I knocked and I listened and heard some foot falls.
A kindly young man had answered my call.

He did a great job, it is so grateful deadish sounding. I love the old style folk music. I am simply amazed at how well he made that work and sound.

Agreed! I just keep listening to it!! I love what he did around the 1:26 mark! But the whole song really came together quite nicely! Very talented!

Did you ever think you would have written the lyrics to a song like this before?

@mammasitta, Hello, I know it has been some time since I visited your pages, I wrote a song as part of the IFC contest round 22, and Ed here made it into a real song for us. It is done in the style of The Grateful Dead, and I think he did a wonderful job, in fact I am surprised he was able to take my poem and make it a song, So I hope you have a few minutes to visit and listen.

Thanks again :)

Great work, greatthe way you have worked the lyrics into a great melody, very wonderful vocals and arrangement. No wonder they are stoked!
