In Venezuela, the song and music of traditional aguinaldo have been combined in a particular way to become a manifestation of a lot of roots in this holiday season. That is why, it is a pleasure for me, with the arrival of the month of December and the announcement of Christmas, to present in this interesting musical area today's song "La jornada" (the day). It is a traditional Venezuelan aguinaldo that was compiled by the maestro Vicente Emilio Sojo (1887 - 1974) and recorded for the first time by the Orfeón "José Ángel Lamas" under the direction of maestro Sojo himself.
As for the Venezuelan bonuses, they acquired their own nature towards the end of the first half of the 19th century and the great majority of them, of Spanish origin, but of ancient tradition in our town, received notable changes to become popular songs and aguinaldos, which clearly reflect the musical idiosyncrasy of the Venezuelan people.
"La jornada" refers to the theme of "divine" and its author is unknown (anonymous). This bonus was compiled by maestro Sojo and recorded by Orfeón Lamas in one of his "live" performances between 1956 and 1957 at the Ateneo de Valencia, Edo Carabobo, Venezuela. The musical edition was made in 1979 by the Latin American Institute of Musical Studies Vicente Emilio Sojo (SIL) under the musical supervision of the Orpheón Label Seal with the reference number 004. This musical work belonged to the personal file of Mr. Antonio J. González and, currently, is part of the archives of the Vicente Emilio Sojo Foundation.

In this way, we listen to the Orfeón Lamas in a brilliant performance under the baton of maestro Sojo that touches us the most intimate fiber of our being; it is the same yesterday cast in our molds.
Finally, life has in music and, above all, in singing the most noble, glorious, unsurpassable and exquisite celebration. And, in this opportunity, the song of today is a necessary gift in these times in which it becomes necessary to consolidate our immense cultural memory and in this way contribute to the consolidation of the profile of our Venezuelan identity.
