Do fish have self-awareness?🐟#90video

Fish passed the mirror test, but scientists doubt whether they have self-awareness.
A mirror test is a key way to assess whether an animal has the rudiments of self-awareness, whether it is aware of itself.

The essence of the test: on the part of the animal's body, which is not available for direct review, glue small bright marks. If the animal sees in his reflection and realizes that they are located on it, trying to remove them from the body.
So react highly developed beings-people, humanoid, dogs, elephants, dolphins.

As it turned out thanks to experiments, fish guban (Labroides dimidiatus) noticed the mark on the body and tried to remove it, wiping his sides on solid objects.

This indicates that the fish have some degree of self-awareness. But we all know that fish are not on a par with monkeys and dogs. As scientists say, one should not perceive self-consciousness as something that either is or is not. It can develop layer by layer.

Who in the animal world do you think has real self-awareness?
People? Monkeys? Dogs? Cats? Fish? Insects? Bacteria?

I shouldn't be talking about it on the blockchain, but in 2017 we had a cockroaches issues at home,, and of course as obsessed as I am, I decided to study them and understand how they kicked our butts so quickly by multiplying.
I discovered a totally new world, and learnt that they are as smart as dogs, live in a herd, protect the youth, and can outsmart other animals.
We called an exterminator and got them out of our place, but I couldn't help but think of how they must have felt about it.

So for me , cockroaches have reached self-awareness, beware!!! Yuk...

Haha! Great story!
Do you think cockroaches act more on their own understanding or do they act more in a collective mind?

From what I understand, they work in within a herd, like cows ! So there's a leader, and they follow him, check this (wiki)

Some species, such as the gregarious German cockroach, have an elaborate social structure involving common shelter, social dependence, information transfer and kin recognition

Very interesting!

Greetings, dear sweetheart Elena

Actually, I already had an aquarium and I could observe for years the movements of my fish. They seem to be driven only by food and reproduction. I may be talking a lot of nonsense about not understanding much of the subject, but I remember seeing the same fish rush to shelters so they will not be attacked. Puppies usually hide in places where adult fish can not devour them. I have boats, caves and logs where they were hidden. Of course, this may just be a reflection of learning brought about by them for centuries.

Your last question is very pertinent. Neither do humans possess a well-developed self-consciousness, for if this were to happen, we would not see how much evil is happening in the world. For me, the one with the most developed self-awareness is my beloved dog Miya !!!

thank you and have a nice weekend!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply!
Miya - certainly a very smart and conscious dog, because she always helps you to record video for DTube and hears a lot of smart things from you).

hahaha, thank you about Miya :D
