Herb & Flower Garden Update

My BEAUTIFUL chive is flowering already. This plant is from last year and I'm thrilled to see these fabulous purple flower tops so early in the gardening season

The Snapdragons are starting to POP up

Mullein is coming up. This is also a new addition to the garden this year

My first year with comfrey and it is coming up and I am ready for it! Can't wait to add to my medicinal herb collection and make some salves from this plant/herb

Here is one variety of sunflower I have popping up and lookin' good! This is a Dwarf Sunflower but I also have two American Giants and two Moulin Rouge (red in color) around the herb and flower garden area for some nice color and height

You are really rocking that garden! I am not familiar with comfrey. Can you tell me what you use it for?

Oh, the ignorance is showing!

lol- no it's not. if you had asked me three years ago what comfrey was, I would have been "ummm, well, never heard of it".

It is used in salves for sore muscles, it has anti-inflammatory properties and when made into a salve with other herbs/flowers/plants like plantain leaves or echinacea flowers it makes a wonderful all-purpose salve to rub on. You know... long days in the garden, long walks through the state parks and EVERY muscle is screaming... yeah.

Ohhhh, yeahhhhh! Thanks so much for following up! I still think your garden looks great! LOL

I was supposed to ask what it is, good thing I scrolled down.

Nice to see your plants doing well! Do you keep ginger in the greenhouse? Or do you plant it outside? Nice to see gardens growing!!!

I keep the ginger in the greenhouse from May until October then bring back into the house. It would never survive a winter here. This is my second year growing. Last year was an epic fail and so far this year I am happy with the results. I need to go out there and get some of the root because I'll be making up some herbal tea for the week and I LOVE the zing ginger adds to the drinks

Ah! Growing ginger would be pretty cool. I really didn't like it at first but through small doses am learning to enjoy it. It's a must in kombucha brews for it's added flavour. Great post featuring Rob's book yesterday. Hoping to pop back by it to vote. Recharging VP is is real struggle!

howdy @goldendawne ya'll have some lush looking plants up there! I particularly like that top photo which looks like the flower is suspended in mid air! It looks like ya'll can have home made herbal tea all year from your own plants! all great photos bytheway, not just the top one.
God bless you guys up there.

You know.. I never noticed that until you mentioned it.. but yeah! It looks like a chive flower hovering! How cool!

Oh yes, I will have plenty of herbs for teas and all the other culinary needs as well as my homemade health and beauty aids.

I am considering getting a larger dehydrator or a second one as I can foresee an Herb Jungle developing pretty soon.

yes Ma'am and someday ya'll will be able to survive on your own if
something catastrophic happens.I pray that day never comes but it
seems like most people believe it's coming.

What a nice garden! You are growing so many different varieties. I have never heard of Snapdragons. Learning something new every day. Love your plant tags. Did you make them yourself? I wish your phone battery didn't die at the end. I didn't get enough of the tour of your greenhouse yet :)

I'll be doing another greenhouse video- I have my small one too plus some of the seeds in this greenhouse are still germinating. I'll give it another week or so.

Yes, I made the garden tags from dollar store items and free paint stir sticks. All of them for the garden and herb area cost maybe $6 total.

Clear contact paper to cover the letters to keep the rain and snow out. So easy and simple; and can be used over and over again.

Wow, such a great idea. Thanks for sharing!

Waah! I'm so amazed by people who has their own garden and are able to take full advantage of it. I've met quite a few homesteaders here on steemit and I'm still quite awed on the things that you are producing. ^^

Hello from #steemitbloggers! Nice Plants, my sunflower is not growing as well as yours this year.
