Hitting these marks is very engaging, and collecting rewards to reach those can be motivating. However, it may set the wrong incentive because some people may start just squeezing out the maximum rewards possible rather than generating value.
That's why I really like that you engage with the audience, show your appreciation of their activity (if it's worthy) and direct a share of the rewards pool to them. This is almost like Pavlov's dog :-)

yeah. sucks because anytime there is a monetary reward people will try to game the system.
but at the end of the day i can’t worry about it. i can just try to respond to everyone and let them know they are appreciated :)

Let's be honest, many people are already doing that.
Just take a look at the "Promoted" section of Steemit.
Bot boosted posts almost everywhere.
they are abused for sure. but sometimes there are creators that don’t get noticed unless they promote themselves. currently that’s the only way to get noticed in the short term.

Sometimes I also boost my posts, because nowadays almost no one cares about my posts.
I mostly boost my posts not with paid upvote bots, but with free upvote bots.
Most of the upvote values on my posts comes from free upvote bots.

I mostly use the free upvote bot of the Minnow Support Project.
You can find it on the Peace, Abundance, Liberty Discord server.
You can use that bot for almost any kind of posts.
Steem Monsters also have a free upvote bot on their Discord server, but only for Steem Monsters posts.
Exactly. This has been bothering me for a long time, as well. Why don't clients just display trending topics based on metrics different than just rewards?

lol that would be awesome. things like content creators actually responding to people that comment on their posts. i’ve stopped going to some creators stuff now simply because they don’t even say ‘thanks for stopping by’ never mind a small upvote.

thanks man. it was actually a joint venture with @nathanmars and myself. we started at 100 and just bumped it up to 300. we wanted people to have the mind set to eat some skin in the game. it’ll bump up to 500 soon lol

First a question? Why did you stop doing the road to 100 ? I found that getting to 100 the hardest, because you know maybe a couple of folks or nobody at all.
I know that SteemSavvy is the place to start but weekly videos with the questions and answers are needed as well.

to get skin in the game. we want to attract people that believe in steem long term. plus the more sp you have staked the better :)

I have a suggestion for a future video! While earning by engagement and one’s presence is the key, I think a good tutorial about how to acquire Steem would be good to show new and small users. The price continues to be attractive to do so! I remember investing over $1,000 to get to Minnow while today it is only a fraction!

I have to agree with @ericburgoyne that reaching 100SP is the hardest thing (if you are starting with 0 investment)... But, on the other side, reaching 300-500SP is important because than you are getting more significant amount of SP through curation (which is basically reward for your engagement, commenting, etc)

for sure. yeah without any fiat invested 100 is a climb. but like you said. once you reach a certain level there is a snowball effect that takes place
