The Culpability Of The Human Actions What Measures Determines What's Right Or Wrong?

Deciding what's right or wrong sometimes is decided by a flawed society and this is some what absurd, in general it's decided that actions that benefits the general rather than selfish purpose is considered to be right while vice versa is considered wrong, what are the origins of the genesis principles, rules and regulations and norms is it because it's sacrosanct and that makes it right?
