Is reputation score still effective on the chain?

“Imagine Steem blockchain without a reputation score?”

Actually, it is unimaginable because it has really become part of the system already.
Conversely, the efficacy of the scores is gradually diminishing as people no longer pay attention to the reputation score or consider it as a determining factor again.

Meanwhile, ever since I got to this chain the scores have been a yardstick (not total) but partial yardstick in considering people on the chain in terms of experience, knowledge and how long such individual has been on the chain.

Also, it creates leverage for people in the sight of investors and community curators/developers. Nevertheless, the game has changed totally or perhaps I am not just seeing the effects of a reputation score on this platform again. Watch my perspectives.
