Showing off my cracked open rocks from Diamond Hill Mine
I took some of my larger stones that ive found at the Diamond Hill mine and broke off the crystals. I find that alot of great finds tend to have stone on one side and crystals on the other. So taking those and trying to carefully remove the big rock chunks so the crystals dont take up as much space.
These were found at the Diamond Hill and have many Iron and manganese specimens. I found crystals of all shapes and sizes at this location. Some large terminated ones, druzy styles that cover one surface of the stone and many other interesting mixes of stone and crystal.
The dig site these were found are in South Carolina, it is a few hours from me but a fun drive as I get to see some fire towers on the last leg of the journey.
A few large finds had crystals growing inside the rock. I broke them open but did not find anything inside unfortunately.

I've found several of them myself but they are not that big and beautiful. I would like to make something out of them but I don't want it to be jewelry or something I cannot wear on myself which is a little bit contradictory. I don't have an idea. Still, they are on my table and they are looking good.

@ylania oh cool, you should do a post on your rocks.. please tag me if you do so I can see them for sure. I spent days finding these big crystals, so maybe with luck and time you can find big ones too. I too thought about making jewelry with them though nothing I have found is all that rare, so now im just collecting them.

awesome. i had an awesome collection of opals from years back when i lived out west ( of the east coast ) oz.
lived in a town that was ungerground, to avoid the daytime heats of up to 50c
loved that town.
