Going To Dubai Mall: A Kind Of Part 2
There is so much to see at Dubai Mall. It doesn't matter if you don't like to shop. There is so much unique shops and displays to make your head turn.
Part 1 mainly focuses on our main reason for the trip. We wanted to get our son, Robbie, some new books: Dubai Mall, The Gruffalo, Chocolate And The Burj Khalifa
Part 2 is about the journey and other sights. Some of it outside where there are fountain shows and the Burj Khalifa.
We live in Sharjah which is on the north Dubai border. It is super hot, but that does not always matter. We can leave our building and get a taxi to the nearest Metro station, Al Rashidya. Then we are on an air conditioned train to the mall.
There is a walkway between the station and the mall. So there is no need to be outside in the heat. I suppose that is a good and bad thing.
I do love the Metro stations here. From the outside, the stations look like they belong in the old science fiction movies.
The platforms are modem and clean.
I get my first glimpse of the Burj Khalifa
Then there is around a 15 minute walk to the mall with the assistance of airport style travelators.
Later in the afternoon, we decide that it would be nice to go to the outside area. It is very humid. July and August are the hottest months in the United Arab Emirates.
However, you can't hide inside forever. You have to go out and get acclimatised to it. In fact, I've noticed that I more much comfortable with warmer temperatures than I was when I arrived 3 years ago.
We want to see the fountain show but we also want to give Robbie some food. There is a Hardees outside the fountain area where we can get chips and refillable fizzy drinks.
The fountain shows start at 6pm but it won't get dark until about 7pm. The fountain area is nice.
The fountain show starts and Robbie is gripped. We are eating on the outside tables now.
When the big wave goes up, Robbie raises his hands and smiles and says "wow." Then he goes back to his chips.
The night starts to fall. There'll be another fountain show in half hour and it will be a bit darker.
Of course, I can't leave without a picture of the world's largest building, the Burj Khalifa. Can I fit it in the picture?
It is time to leave and say goodnight. I hope you enjoyed these pictures.
It was a nice but very long day.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great rest of the day.
