I love this, you know there are so many amazing people that are doing amazing things and we never get to hear about them, but when we do it is so uplifting and inspiring. This amazing women really shows us what 1 person is capable of, thank you so much for sharing her story and reminding us what it means to be humble in what we do xxx

That first paragraph had me saying "YES!!"

I’m fed up of the blame and finger pointing. If we attribute so much power to those in government, who are really just people the same as us, then why don't we attribute that same power to ourselves? Instead of saying "It's your fault that nothing is being done, how dare you?" why aren't we asking what it is that we want done and whether it's something we can do ourselves?

What an amazing woman and certainly one to celebrate!

Great post! India had some of the first environmental movements.

Bravo Saalumarada Thimmakka!

Thank you for showing us this amazing example of a person who's made a difference with her lifetime actions! There are many others, but at the moment they're being eclipsed in mass consciousness by someone else... as if she was the first an only one who ever said something.

Dear @artemislives Every day steem shows me different things, in this opportunity we met this great character, who despite his simplicity has been recognized for his great work, also has merits for his age and lack of formal education ...
This shows us that there is no excuse for anyone to do valuable things, thank you for such a beautiful post.

Activism is NOT about memes, social media or reading prepared speeches. It's about modelling new paradigm behaviour, teaching skills and about persistence

Exactly. Something politicians are missing. Memes and social media are a way of venting and organising rallies, perhaps, but unless you are doing something concrete, it's pretty useless. And upsetting. I watched Jonathon Pie's rant about this very thing this morning. It made me well up. It feels like we are all going to die tomorrow - but feeling like that aint gonna help - focussing on what IS happening, and what I can personally do in small ways, is much better for my mental health!

What a woman. I love stories of forest planting. Perhaps my one tree a week (evened out across a year) is something. I bought myself more trees to plant for my birthday this weekend.
