Hibiscus Tea

in #ecotrain6 years ago

We are getting ready to move, and I am in that stage of purging things we don't need, so today's post will be short! It has been a hot, sweaty, dusty, and disgusting day. We will just say the bottom of the toy box is a gross place.

That makes it a perfect day for Hibiscus Tea! The first time I had it was when I came down from my vision quest. It was the first thing they gave us after 4 days of no food or water. It is incredibly nourishing but also so light.

It is very high in vitamin C. It also lowers blood pressure and blood sugar and has been known to help with cramps, depression, and more. These things are everywhere here!! It's wonderful to have an abundance of something so healthy and delicious. To top it all off, it's absurdly easy. A couple caveats - it can affect your estrogen balance, and I have read to avoid it if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. It also has laxative properties, so, you know. Don't overdo it.

It's wonderful if you have hibiscus in your yard like we do, but if not you can buy dried ones pretty easily. If you have fresh, remove the green part at the bottom and also the stamen with the pollen. Bring flowers and water to a boil. I had maybe 10-15 flowers and a small pot full of water. After it boils, turn it off and let it steep. Then you can add in sugar or honey and a little lime juice. I put in half a cup of sugar, but I like mine sweet! I used probably ¾ of a lime. Our limes here are local, large, and very juicy, though.

Some people like it hot, but it was way too hot today for hot tea! I put this in the fridge and then had it iced when I couldn't wait any longer. Good stuff! I only had pink flowers today, so it's pink, but if you have the red ones, it will be really dark red! Delicious and beautiful!

Much love, y’all!

I love hibiscus tea!! It's a stock-standard poor-persons drink here in Thailand and you can buy it in markets and food courts everywhere. Locally it's called Nam Kra-Chiep and it's dark gorgeous RED cos they only make it here with the dark red flowers. We always drink it iced with fresh lime and a bit of raw jungle honey, and I often have a jug in the fridge. Nice post. :)

It's so good and nourishing! I do like the red better, but we are only getting pink flowers right now. That picture wasn't the best, but it looked like pink lemonade! Glad you enjoyed the post! Not sure when I will be able to post again. I feel stuck in moving hell! Super duper excited to move though!

Hey Mama! :D This ain't any bot or whatever, I'm just posting this to some people I follow :D

There's a crazy airdrop which takes 5 minutes to complete. You with your Steemit reputation can get coins worth 40$. Half of those are immediately ready to be withdrawn, the other half you'll get in one year. But that first half, you can have it in literally 10 minutes, ready to be converted to for example STEEM or Bitcoin :D It's stupid and crazy but it works haha.

I've written a post about it and if you follow the steps and click the link, I'll also get some extra coins. WIN, WIN

Here my post with steps:
https://steemit.com/airdrop/@matkodurko/10-minutes-up-to-160usd-airdrop-guide-with-screenshots-sialeny-airdrop-za-10-minut

You can see that in the comment section are like 7 poeple who've already done this. No scam, no clickbait, I'm a polite Steemian haha :) And human, not a bot...

So if you want, check it out and do those 9 steps to get your (and mine) free money. There are several people who've already done this and converted it to SBD. (check for example user for91days and his new deposited 11 SBDs)

Cheers! :D

I think I have had tea with hibiscus before. Are they sour or was that something else in the tea? I remember the red flowers and tea color.

I am honestly not sure if the hibiscus itself is sour. It's usually made with lime juice, though, so that's

I heard miracle tea, and I got here as fast as I could!!

That sounds relaxing and easy to make. There are a lot of hibiscus out here, but I have to look into how to get some flowers of my own—instead of stealing them from someone's yard!~ xD

Hey! I've been in moving hell hiatus! I wouldn't worry about heisting them! They bloom new flowers each day, and you only need 8-10ish! I think you can buy them dried at the store though. When it's iced, it's like lime juice with a little extra something. So yummy.

I would think of adding honey. Hopefully your move is going well!~

It's going smoothly so far. I'm tired, but I'm holding up. The divorce is somewhat messy. Had a nasty, nasty fight today. I've never actually wanted to hit another person until today. He will be gone soon, though. Hopefully tomorrow. I am so, so ready.

I apologize for my tardiness. How did the move go? I hope he is gone and fairing well. Stay strong mama <3 <3 <3

It's all good, beautiful! I totally meant to check on you! How was your hurricane?! How are you?!
Move has gone mostly really well. He is, indeed, gone. I am super happy and feel like I've found home and been freed from prison. It's marvelous. My parents were just here for a week, and that was awesome. Kids are fabulous, though having a little bit of a time adjusting to separate homes.

hello lovely Mama, I could do with some of that tea, how is the move going? thinking of you and look forward to hearing about your new place, much love xxxx

Hey sweet mama! We are finally getting settled in! It's been a crazy two weeks. The new place is so wonderful. I'm incredibly grateful. We have a for real kitchen sink. The community is just fabulous. Super friendly and really beautiful. The beach is a block away, and there's an ice cream shop, coffee shop, and tea shop. It's so nice to feel less isolated. Thanks for checking in! Much love!
