R-E-S-P-E-C-T : Ecotrain QOTW - "What does respect mean to you, who do you respect and why, and how do you demonstrate it?"

in #ecotrain5 years ago

There are many things which you give or share to others but never get back. However, there are still Two things which if you give to others , you will get back more for sure. Love & Respect the bonds that binds humanity with a stronger thread. Infact it is Respect only which could makes our world a better place. Because Love also exist when there is Respect for each other.

So what does Respect mean??

For me, Respect means giving Value to others. Be it Elders, Youngers or even anyone of same age group, Poor or Richer. Valueing the presence and giving them feel of belongingness are best way to show Respect. And one can easily do that in 5 simple ways..

  • Listen
  • Encourage
  • Congratulate
  • Be Helpful
  • Thank You.

It is a thin humantairian line that may abolish all kind of discrimination, and the best way to prosper humanity among mankind.

Thank god that I brought up in a family where our first life lesson were taught to give Respect to All. I remember one childhood stance, when I mistakenly called my sister's inlaws in a casual Hindi like "Aap kya loge" instead "aap kya lijiyega" (what you need) and my dad sitting there, pinpointed me at the very moment, making me realize my mistake. It was a slight change of tone but makes a huge difference. I simply accepted my mistake and corrected my wrong done by saying sorry.

Casual language is ok when your are among your friends but when we are with elders or seniors, we always make sure to talk in proper manner not to make the feel low or abusive. (I found pity that new generation is not bother of these silly things).

"Treat people, the way you want to be treated. Talk to people, the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned not given" .....-Hussain Nishah

Respect does not comes naturally, it is something we need to learn. Every human being wants to be respected, because it gives them a safe feeling and allow them to express properly. One can easily be respectful or be respected by being :

  • Humble
  • Polite
  • Kind
  • Not hurting anyone
  • Be tolerant
  • Good mannerism.

Respect starts by self respecting. Respect yourself first and then respect others. Always put yourself in other people shoes to understand and to value their existence.

Not to forget, we will get what we will sow. By giving respect to others, we will setting up a standard to our next generation. They will learn what they see, so be always respectful to all.

By giving respect we are setting a standard. Yes, I like that idea and agree wholeheartedly. Yes, we will always receive back what we give out, and that's natural and justice in its truest form. Nice post.

nice one Mr Steemflow! India for sure knows a thing or two about respect. I used to be uncomfortable being called Sir, or Mr Alex by most people.. but as time went on i learned to appreciate it and always find it cute.. Sometimes even in India ive had people touch and kiss my feet when showing extreme respect.. that is just so humbling and beautiful, and i have unsurprisingly never had that happen in the UK! lool!

Touching elders feet is a great gesture to respect. We always do that, when comes across some elder. ....
