The insects. Activites.

Hello friends, welcome to "I love to educate" is a blog created for educational purposes. To provide support to teachers, students and parents in the teaching-learning process, facilitating the completion of school activities.

In these publications we will learn about animals and its
classification.

Animals surround us everywhere. We find them in a meadow, in a forest, in a reservoir, high in the mountains. Animals live in the air, on the ground, and some live in our house.

Among the animals there are giants. For example, a blue whale reaches a length of meters. And other representatives of the animal world can only be seen through a microscope.

Animal science is called zoology. A zoologist is a scientist who studies animals.

Zoologists divide the animal kingdom into groups. You are already familiar with insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and animals. In this topic you will know the insects.

The insects

Insects (Insecta) are a class of invertebrate animals on the edge of arthropods.

Insects are the oldest and most numerous group of animals. They appeared many millions of years ago and are very well adapted to life on Earth.

Today more than one million species of insects are known. But it is believed that there is much more on Earth.

These are butterflies similar to flowers and elegant dragonflies. Ubiquitous beetles, annoying flies and mosquitoes are also insects. And worker ants and bees, gluttonous lobsters and grasshoppers in the meadow.

We can find insects everywhere: on the surface of the earth, in the air, on the ground, in the water. These little animals can do everything: walk, run, jump, fly and some even swim.

Insects are six-legged animals. They have wings, and the body is divided into head, chest and abdomen.

Insects lay eggs.

In many species, a larva that is completely different from an adult insect is born from eggs.

The caterpillar eats a lot and grows fast. It then becomes a chrysalis, from which a butterfly flies after a while.

Many insects are herbivores. Caterpillars eat foliage, while beetles eat wood and tree bark. Bumblebees, bees and butterflies feed on nectar.

There are many predators among insects. They eat their own species or drink another person's blood. Then, ladybugs and dragonflies eat aphids, flies and mosquitoes.

There are omnivores. For example, ants eat plant leaves and eat aphids.

Some insects domesticated by man. This is a honey bee and a silkworm. A bee gives honey to a person, and a silkworm produces silk.

Some insects benefit people (bees, ladybugs), others harm (lobsters, flies).

Entomology is the scientific study of insects.

Why are insects important and necessary for nature?

The role of insects in nature and human life is determined, in the first place, by their enormous number and diversity in communities.

  • Predatory insects and parasites are natural regulators of the number of animals they feed on.

  • Being pollinators of plants, insects play an important role in the reproduction of plants.

  • Fly larvae and many beetles feed on manure. Therefore, dung beetles quickly destroy cattle droppings, so they are able to completely clean a heavily contaminated rural pen in a month.
