[LEARN & EARN - Week #2] What did you learn in the last couple of days? **1 STEEM BOUNTY**

in #education5 years ago (edited)

One thing a day, keep stupidity away :) I've lately started to write morning journal similar to how Tim Ferris does. But I've added one more column:

What did I learn yesterday?

It quickly became my favorite thing to write down in the morning. Just couple of words. Usually between 3-6. Just keywords. The realization that I'm waking up smarter than yesterday just totally boosts the energy for the next day.

Last week entries from my personal journal

  • Monday - Yoga actually doesn't implement any hang/pull exercises and positions at all (makes sense but I never thought about it)
  • Tuesday - Nice new single leg takedown defence
  • Wednesday - difference between SFTP and FTPS
  • Thursday - how to implement a TagBox (the thing which is used in Busy or DTube for adding tags) with Kendo UI instead of ReactJS
  • Friday - new English word penultimate (@nuthman ;) )
  • Bonus - I've learned what's contracting (@abh12345 ;) )

STEEM BOUNTY

I want YOU to do the same! And because I know that we're all driven by the number in our STEEM wallet, I'm adding a tiny STEEM Bounty on this post. There are two ways how to get the bounty:

  • BIGGER - comment on Saturday or Sunday and write what have you learned on EACH DAY of the week
  • SMALLER - if you've just randomly came over, write down 3 things you've lately learned and you will get some cut as well

Whale users? Anyone?

I thought about one extra REAL LEARNERS' bounty size which would require participants to daily fill in the Google spreadsheet! I could take care of writing the script to check if people are not cheating. But to make people come back daily, the bounty needs to be higher than 1 STEEM. If some whale users read & like this idea, just lemme know if you could donate couple of STEEM for the cause to increase bounty and get the REAL LEARNERS' division going :)

We've got just the first week in, so there's not much to add here but I'm definitely excited how this develops in the near future :)

What a great idea.
I tend to feel pretty bad about myself, and this is an awesome way to remind yourself of your learning achievements.

  1. I learned that biting of more than you can chew may work for a while, but it will take it's toll eventually

2 - I learned that Steemworld.org now also shows mentions

3 - I learned that you have to take care of yourself first and do what you like to do, not because others expect you to do this.

I'm not a whale, but I'll send you a contribution you can use for your next bounty

#steemitbloggers

Oh wow, you gotta love #steemitbloggers :)) Thanks a lot. I'm wondering now.. do you want me to give a try to that extra tier with Google spreadsheet which people will have to update daily to qualify? Or is it just to increase the bounty of the current form?

If I'd go with creating an extra tier, I guess I'd set a fix reward of 0.5 STEEM for everyone who succeeds in updating the sheet daily. Cuz if I set it for the bounty and noone goes that extra mile with a spreadsheet, the bounty will get divided anyway.

And to your sub, I had no idea about mentions on steemworld.com, how cool is that :)

Qualified for the LOWER UPPER steem-bounty tier. Sponsors always get the extra treatment haha

Thanks a ton!! :)

@matkodurko, could you tell me: did I actually sent you that contribution? These last couple of days have been really hectic, and I can' t seem to get access to my wallet on my phone right now. Which means I can't check it, but something tells me I forgot.... If I did, I'm sorry. Just let me know, okay? If I forgot, I'll fix it asap.

About the spreadsheet... wouldn't it be a lot of work to go through them one by one?
I mean, although sometimes I'm a real bounty-hunter, I didn't comment on your post because of the bounty. It was more like sending a message to myself that I did learn a couple of things, and that I'm not standing still, that I'm still growing. That was a reward on itself.
Personally, I am too busy and especially too unorganized to make a commitment to go back to a post daily - or even weekly, for all that matters. But that's just me.
Other people might benefit from it.
You could always try it out and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out like you hoped/planned, you don't have to keep doing it. But if you don't try, you'll never know...

Hey there :) Yepp you've send me those STEEMs thanks :))

And yepp you've right it's quite a lot of work to come to the spreadsheet daily, but that would be the emulation of what I do in my morning journal. Writing it daily. And it gives you the confidence for the next day. That's why I've actually came up with this idea, cuz I wanted people to give it a try. But you're right that noone wil come, 50% of the people didn't even read the rules of the contest and commented just one thing and I had to explain rules to them in an additional comment :D Looking for serious commitment is hard here on Steemit :/

Soo yeah, it'd have to be at least one STEEM per person who succesfully finishes the spreadsheet thing every day to motivate people. So yeah, I'll just increase the bounty and let's see. Will go with 2 next time just to see how many people will come back (this week there's lot of participants cuz of being selected as boosted post in steemitbloggers). And if many people show up even without being boosted, then I'll maybe even set it for 3 STEEM the next-next week.

Thanks for the support! :)

Look at my nephew wiser than his years and spreading the goodness!

I try to be in constant learning mode so learning something is more the norm than an exception that catches my attention. I will have to let this coffee sink in after a big weekend and get back to you on my learnings.

Yay, looking forward for the edit of this comment with your learnings, so I can upvote it and ensure you get the cut of the bounty :))

I learned that the Canadian government outlawed the breeding of dolphins and whales in captivity. They won’t release domestic ones into the wild but will no longer be able to breed new ones for water parks.

On the weekend I learned that hip pressure is great to fight berimbolo players and grips are huge in a tight match.

I also learned that it is okay to spend some afternoon time playing games instead of working especially if it is your birthday!

Oh wow that's some great news from the maple leaves country ;) Haha berimbolo players are kinda non-existent in the white-belt leagues soo I can't say. Can wait to be back on mats and see how my wrestling translates into it hah :)

hahahah lol:

okay first thing is I have learn how say good bye to the "Pain" by let it goes (She is so happy now LOL)

Second think that I have learn is : Don't chase the monkey when they are in the farming land, because it will destroy the young shoots, but do not let them in into the farming land

and the 3rd things is wild cat will walk real slow and hiding under the grass to catch the bird while picking the food on the ground.

the 4th is; Do not lift up the rotten log by your hand, you may put yourselves in danger since the small poisonous animal are living there

recently I learn that sometimes I need to do simple thing to relax myself and not to force every single thing out of the limit

thank you for remain me @matkodurko

Hah that's nice but if you want to qualify for the bounty, read at least the rules ;) You need to write at least 3 things for the lower tier :D Sooo 2 more :D

Edit: Now we're talking ahha :D Qualified for the UPPER steem-bounty tier

Great initiative! pulls out my daily printablesl.

6 things I learned last week based on my daily printables :

  • I learned the side effects of Piracetam and Gotu kola. I wrote about it. I read bunch of articles and journals. Then, I know- my liver might be at risk.

  • I learned to manage my time better and the importance of sticking to our life principle and prioritizing tasks.

  • I learned about Keto diet. Although, it has meat consumption, I am still inclined to try. Maybe soon in the future. I am still strong with my vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.

  • I learned how to integrate exchange market API to spreadsheet. I decided to take my trading to the next level. So, I started to check on tutorials and read bunch of articles. Now I am confident, I can set it up easily.

  • I learned more about SEO and tips surrounds it. I think it's best for copywriters and ad writers to continuously following the latest trend.

  • I learned about Crowdsourcing translation and its cons since I am going to do a paper about it. CAT (computer assisted translation) and crowdsourcing has its cons and pros. But like the thing is I want to find out how to increase the quality of translation using CAT services.

I missed out 29 november because some reasons. I am guessing it must had been an awful day. I need to check up on other journal and see what was going on.

I really like this kind of engagement. Maybe we need Dapps for focus and productivity. Like trello or trees! we earn points by being focus!

M-

Oh wow, so you do this printables daily?? WHat an amazing habit. How much time do you need for them? HMm I used to take Gotu as well.

Keto is great altho it's difficult. Nuts in the backpack all the time :) I used to be on keto for 2 months to heal my injured elbow tendon. But yeah, for vegans it must be really a tough one. Vegetarian is doable. Can't wait for your review once you try it. First days are hell, believe me. Nooo energy whatsoever.

And don't make me think abou dapps haha, for something like that, you need to really put your time into Steemit, not just come over here and there :D

Qualified for the UPPER steem-bounty tier

It doesn't take much time for me to do it. It's basically is just to-do lists, top 5 things I have to do, how much water I take, etc. Actually I am using the printables from simply organized living.

https://andreadekker.com/free-downloads/

It's super helpful to remind me of things I have to do.

used to be on keto for 2 months to heal my injured elbow tendon.

Was it difficult to do keto?

Yepp yepp, mine takes also justcouple of mins in the morning :) Hmm those look good, but Im surprised you actually print them. I though you're super environmentally concerned or?

Oh and keto is pretty tough the first days till your body learns how to run on ketons (fat) rather than carbs. And till the body adjusts, you're tooootally out of energy. Once you get to the other side, you feel awesome. Stable insulin levels don't cause sudden tiredness after the food etc..I found it hard as fuck to do any sports on keto tho. But to heal stuff it's great as carbs(sugars) are inflammatory and by lowering their intake, all the inflamation in the body goes away quicker. It healed my tendon in couple of weeks :)

Hahaha I am not super environmentally concerned. Not to that extreme. However, I do try to limit these things. In a year there will be 365 or 364 papers which is still less than average consumers /students. Not to mention it saves me money from buying books since I can use the backside of it to study and just doodling.

Interesting enough! I mean there are good fats and fats from fruits/vegetables. I'll have to see more if I can omit the meaty part 😄

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh for sure you can. If you're just vegetarian, it will be easy :) Eggs, avocados, nuts, cheese, veggies. Go for leafy green veggies rather then paprika or tomatoes, those have actually quite a lot of carbs. If you eat more than cca 50g of carbs, you're out of ketosis. I bet you're tiny cuz you're a girl and asian (hahah no offense :D) soo it might be even 40 or less. If you want to go really hardcore, you can get papers in the drugstore and pee on them haha :D They change color based on the amounf of sugar in ur system soo you know if you're in ketosis or not :D

I learned that Universities in a German-speaking country teach in English 😂

Hahaha :D there you go, happy to deliver this knowledge to you. Write two more things and you'll qualify for the bounty :) Rules requirements are min 3 and I don't want to bend them right in the beginning hah :D

Posted using Partiko Android

Okay, so, this is what I learned:

  1. See above
  2. that you stick with the rules - even if you set them yourself
  3. I tried screecastify for the first time and it is a pain in the a... and I looked like a ghost in the video. The ghost part is a bonus item I learned about myself 😂

❤️

screecastify? Wow never heard that word in my life hahah :D Thx for taking part :)

I'm liking this. What have I learnt

  • I learnt last Wednesday that the dials on the toaster are minutes.
*Last Thursday , I learnt I can't drink as much as I used to
*Last Friday I learnt that I get really bad hangovers
    Valuable lessons

Oh wooow I almost skipped your entry haha :D those are indeed valuable, I second the second one :D Seems to be the case for me as weell :D

I learnt how to precisely fold a thirty degree angle from Lee Armstrong on Facebook last night as well as how to fold his newly designed easter basket with 22.5, 30 and 45 degree angles. I also created two new origami models both modular on Saturday.20181203_200719.jpg
This is eight pieces, however I think that if I take it to around thirty I will end up with a twisty wreath.
20181203_200637.jpg
This one I love and the units are very simple, however I need to tweak it to make it more stable.

I also learnt mirtazipine 30mg tablets can be crushed, which was fantastic as the orally disintegrating tablets are currently unavailable and it neatly solved a work related problem.

Heyyyy I love your comment but it technically doesn't fullfill the requirements. You have to write at least 3 things. So far there are two. I don't really dwell so much about the rules but on the other side, let's not bend them right in the beginning. Feel free to edit in the 3rd thing and you'll qualify :D

Oh and those origami look totally great. I remember commenting oin one of your post in the PIFC curation :)

Qualified for the LOWER steem-bounty tier

I counted the 30 degree fold separate from the basket model as I initially folded it by eye, however while my focus is on my hobby you don't stop learning at work.

Well, I've only got a few minutes, as I'm exhausted from 2 days of skiing and it's my bed time, but I've learned a lot in the last couple days.

  1. I learned that skiing is very similar to roller skating, but backwards in all the ways that really count.

  2. I've learned that the US in at least partially responsible for the trouble happening in Nicaragua at the moment - and it's bad trouble.

  3. I've learned that snow isn't all bad if I wear enough layers.

My daily habit is to reflect on my favorite part of the day right before going to sleep each evening. It helps me to remember the good, even if the day seemed below average. :-) #steemitbloggers

Hah it's the part of my morning journal.Altho not necessarily about yesterday but rather in general. Hmm wondering if I should add another column :D

Qualified for the LOWER steem-bounty tier

Thank you so much for this initiative! Eight years after university is when I feel I am learning the most. Because now I care about it and I crave it.

So... last week's top three:

  • I learned about young people around who were not to be underestimated. Not all of them are like me in my youth - lots of potential but no motivation do achieve what I really wanted to. Some people almost half my age have done more than I still have. I still don't know what the entrepreneur spirit truly is. Good thing is... it may come to working together with such persons soon enough so that I will be able to learn more;

  • I learned one more new tool for post editing images. One I don't like and I don't want to elaborate on. One I will need from time to time, anyway;

  • I learned there would be times when I would have to deal with mold the same way people in the commercials do. Although I went for a Fallout outfit made of rags and my swimming goggles.

Hahahah what you mean by people in commercials? That they don't wear any protection?

Qualified for the LOWER steem-bounty tier

I mean they wear neat and pro-looking protection. And I was a creature out of a video game.
