Teaching colours to your children.
Colours are part of our lives, especially for kids they are easily attracted to colours as most items, both for school and play are usually made colourful, even their rooms tend to be the most colourful area in the house.
The pre school days is the best time for kids to learn their colours, and since everything around them is geared around colours it's easier to teach cease every opportunity to teach them their colours.
While you are a embarking on the colour identification process for your child it's important to note that, the things around you are your first ally and practicals work better.
instead of saying "Baby go an bring me a cup" why not just say "baby go and bring me a blue cup" and if she doesn't know and she is smart enough to ask what colour blue is, just show her an example with another object around or her favorite toy that isn't there are the moment, for instance you ask her to bring the colour blue and she brings the wrong colour you should simply say "Great job, but this isn't colour blue, colour blue is the same colour as your favourite school pack or your favorite teddy, that way she can easily relate the colour with an item she is conversant with.
Another way to help your child learn colours is by them video poems that teach colours, I think this should be the first step as it could be very effective even of kids that are learning speech, this also tends makes the practical aspect easier.
As we all know,a book is the major item required to begin a learning process, colourful illustrative story books and work books, most of this books leave pages for them to shade and colour the pictures they find in the passages of the books, that way they can learn thier colours while using such work books.
