Power plant lab.
We had another lab today, a really important subject for us mechanical engineers Power Plant Engineering is offered to us this semester. In it we learn the fundamentals behind a power plant setup basically most of the industries use a fundamental power plant to create electricity in order for their own use or deliver it to the grid station for extra profits. Other than that the heat energy produced by these stations are used in various cases.
The power plant consists of 4 basic components:-
- The Boiler:- It heats the saturated water and converts it into high energy steam to be used.
- Turbine:- The steam converts the high kinetic energy it has and through the rotation of the turbine produces electricity.
- Condenser:- It cools the steam back to saturated water to be used again.
- Compressor:- Finally the compressor creates pressure and moves the water towards the boiler.
Basically every industry has the power plant. It is our jobs as engineers to make it the most efficient amd workable in each use case. Even the water used must be treated before used in the boiler.
