The Santo Niño de Cebú or shall we say in Cebuano as the "Balaang Bata sa Sugbo" or in Filipino as "Batang Banal ng Cebu" or in Spanish as "Santo Niño de Cebú" is a Roman Catholic label or title of the Child Jesus. The Sto. Niño image is venerated by many Filipino Catholics as a miraculous one. It is considered as one of the oldest Christian relics in the Philippines. It was given as a gift by a Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan to Rajah Humabon and his wife when he landed on the island of Philippines in 1521.

The image measures approximately 12 inches tall and is made of dark wood in a Flemish style which depicts the Child Jesus as a king dress like a Spanish royalty. The expressions, the accessories, and the hand posture of the image are similar to the Infant Jesus of Prague which is now located in the Czech Republic. Both statues are believed to be originated from the same European source and with the devotion to Sto. Niño starting earlier of the two. The statue is clothed in rich fabrics, jewelry such as gilded neck chain and imperial regalia including a gold crown, globus cruciger, and various scepters mostly donated by the devotees.

The statue received a papal recognition on April 28, 1965, when Pope Paul VI issued a papal bull for the Canonical Coronation of the statue and raised the church that houses it to a Basilica Status to mark the 400th anniversary of the first Christian mission and its rediscovery of the statue in Cebu. The image has now historically attracted with devotional worship in the Philippines including processions and pilgrimage and touching or kissing the foot of the statue's stand.

Due to that, there has been an annual feast every third Sunday of January which is marked by fiesta - Sinulog dancing in the streets and prayers to the Sto. Niño statue.

In the present times, the image of the Sto. Niño is the oldest surviving Catholic relic in the Philippines along with the Magellan's cross.
