Kesuksesan pemilu serentak 2019 menjadi tanggung jawab semua pihak, termasuk lembaga pendidikan. Universitas Malikussaleh (Unimal) menggelar diskusi publik mengenai titik kritis pemilu 2019 untuk ikut menyumbangkan pemikiran dan mengantisipasi sejak dini berbagai potensi kritis pemilu.

Beberapa titik kritis tersebut adalah kepatuhan peserta pemilu terhadap peraturan perundang-undangan dan integritas dan kredibilitas penyelenggara pemilu. Kedua instrumen ini menjadi titik penting untuk menghadirkan pemilu yang jujur, adil, transparan, dan demokratis.

Berbagai pelanggaran masih terjadi karena lemahnya kepatuhan peserta serta penyelenggara terhadap aturan. Ketidaktaatan peserta serta simpatisannya juga ikut memperparah potensi kritis pemilu. Kondisi itu bisa dilihat dari maraknya politik kabar bohong (hoaks), kampanye hitam, dan kampanye negatif.

Beberapa hal dari titik lemah ini bisa dianggap sebagai titik lemah demokrasi elektoral. Diskusi publik ini diwacanakan untuk membangun kesadaran literal bahwa sampai detik ini pilihan berdemokrasi adalah pilihan paling baik dalam menyeleksi sistem dan struktur kekuasaan negara dibandingkan sistem politik lainnya.

Diskusi publik tersebut menghadirkan mantan Ketua Komisi Independen Pemilihan (KIP) Provinsi Aceh, Ridwan Hadi, yang akan melihat pemilu 2019 dari perspektif hukum dan perundang-undangan, kemudian dosen antropologi Fisip Universitas Malikussaleh, Teuku Kemal Fasya yang menyampaikan materi dengan pendekatan demokrasi dan antropologi politik, serta Direktur Jaringan Survei Inisiatif, Aryos Nivada yang membahas titik kritis kepemiluan dari perspektif keamanan dan politik. Moderator diskusi publik tersebut adalah Ayi Jufridar, mantan anggota KIP Aceh Utara.

Diskusi publik berlangsung di Aula Cut Meutia Kampus Bukit Indah, Lhokseumawe, Rabu 20 Februari 2019 pukul 09.00 – 12.30 WIB. Menurut rencana, Rektor Unimal, Dr Herman Fithra ST MT, akan membuka kegiatan tersebut.

Para peserta diskusi publik adalah mahasiswa di lingkungan Unimal, dosen, aktivis prodemokrasi dan hukum di Lhokseumawe dan Aceh Utara, serta jurnalis. Diskusi publik ini diselenggarakan Unit Pelayanan Teknis (UPT) Kehumasan dan Hubungan Eksternal Universitas Malikussaleh.[]

Universitas Malikussaleh Discusses About the Critical Point of the 2019 Election in Indonesia

The success of the 2019 simultaneous election is the responsibility of all parties, including educational institutions. Malikussaleh University (Unimal) held a public discussion on the critical points of the 2019 election to contribute ideas and anticipate early on various critical potentials of the election in Indonesia.

Some of these critical points are the election participants' compliance with laws and regulations and the integrity and credibility of the election organizers. These two instruments are important points for presenting elections that are honest, fair, transparent and democratic.

Various violations still occur because of the weak compliance of participants and organizers of the rules. The disobedience of participants and sympathizers also contributed to the critical potential of the election. This condition can be seen from the rise of hoax politics, black campaigns, and negative campaigns.

Some things from this weak point can be considered as the weak point of electoral democracy. This public discussion is discourse to build literal awareness that until this moment democratic choice is the best choice in selecting the system and structure of state power compared to other political systems.

The public discussion presented the former Chairperson of the Aceh Province Independent Election Commission (KIP), Ridwan Hadi, who would see the 2019 election from the perspective of law and legislation, then lecturer at the Faculty of Social Anthropology at Malikussaleh University, Teuku Kemal Fasya, and Director of the Jaringan Survey Inisiatif (Initiative Survey Network), Aryos Nivada, who discussed electoral critical points from a security and political perspective. The moderator of the public discussion was Ayi Jufridar, a former member of the North Aceh KIP.

Public discussions took place at Cut Meutia Hall, Bukit Indah Campus, Lhokseumawe, Wednesday 20 February 2019 at 09.00 - 12:30 WIB. According to the plan, the Unimal Chancellor, Dr. Herman Fithra ST MT, will open the event.

The public discussion participants were students in the Unimal environment, lecturers, pro-democracy activists and the law in Lhokseumawe and Aceh Utara, as well as journalists. This public discussion was held by the Public Service Unit (UPT) of Public Relations and External Relations at the University of Malikussaleh.[]
