"Rigged elections are a problem everywhere, and I know with blockchain technology it can be fixed, but will the powers that be ever let such a thing happen?"

Blockchain would be very good for that purpose. It would make it almost impossible to commit fraud. And they don't have to count all the election results by hand anymore. But corrupt governments don't want to use blockchain because then they can't fraud anymore.  How will you force them to use blockchain technology if they simply refuse to do so? They are in control of power...Also governments are always very slow when it comes to adapting to new technologies. It will probably take 5-10 years before they start using it anyway.

It is a really interesting use case to use blockchain technology toward elections!

This subject is always so interesting to read. I am not completely sure if it is really applicable to the elections. By applicable I mean, it may not be the best solution. Even if it is, we still have some years to implement as you said.

Why would it not be the best solution? You can't chance what's on the blockchain so there can't be fraud. And a blockchain is very transparent. Everyone will be able to see the results.

It's probably one of the better applications for a blockchain.
