[Electroneum] My Final Update

This is going to be my final regular update for Electroneum, which is sort of sad but also inevitable. The main reason for this is that the Electroneum team have started releasing their own weekly updates over on their blog. For me to do the same thing would just be redundant, and so the Electroneum Weekly News Update comes to an end. This was my first regular post on Steemit, and I think it really helped me to start to build an audience. This was the first post that I started playing around with different formats and templates, and was the only regular feature regarding Electroneum on Steemit when I first started.

The other reason is that it took quite a long time to research and fact-check for these posts, and it was just never profitable in any way relative to the time I put in. The only satisfaction was seeing how many page views each one got, which is now no longer a metric on this site, so it's just impossible to tell exactly how many people you're reaching. You can find all 14 (holy bieber that's more than I thought) previous updates listed here for posterity. If you're new to Electroneum, you may find them a good way of catching up on what the project is about and where it's going.

In this post I'm just going to quickly go over a few final things to round everything off, but I just want to say my interest or investment in this project hasn't declined in the slightest. We're currently in another vicious round of correction in the crypto markets, but Electroneum is holding strong and is already recovering it's recent losses despite other coins still showing signs of retraction.

Mobile Miner

The Mobile Miner was always a massive part of Electroneum's goal and mission statement, being intended to introduce the uninitiated to the world of cryptocurrency and also provide a small passive income. There are now well over 160,000 concurrent users which is just amazing, and there's no signs of this growth coming to an end anytime soon.

I absolutely love the Mobile Miner, however since my phone got the Android 8.1 update, I've noticed that the app is constantly closing after a short while. I've done the usual, ensuring that the battery management features allow the app to run in the background, but to no avail. I've even tried adding the "com.electroneum.mobile" package to the whitelist for background_location_throttling but no change. I'll be contacting support this week, as I suspect the app isn't built with Android Oreo in mind. Expect a short update on that if I get an answer or solution.

Electronero Scam

I mentioned this possible scam in the previous update, but I just wanted to share a reddit post by the user u/TheQuantumPhysicist from back in late April which is very illuminating, and if you've been thinking about taking part in this soft stool of a fork, I strongly recommend you take a read.

The person behind this fork has now come forward after users spotted they had used their real name to register the domain. Don't get caught with your pants around your ankle, and just stay clear of this obvious scam.
