Production of electricity from waste heat - by @dcrypto

Producing heat from electricity is simple right; for example, you use electricity to cook, to straighten your hair, and to many other purposes. However, converting waste heat that has been produced from cars for example to electricity is not so easy task and it requires massive dedication and smartness. Researchers from DOE/Sandia National Laboratories, Paul Davids, a physicist and the principal investigator, in particular, has been trying hard to accomplish this task.
Therefore, the team made a tiny, its significantly smaller than the width of the human hair, the silicon-based device in order to harness electricity, DC power. The device is made of very common and cost-efficient materials that can found abundantly on the planet, such as aluminium, silicon dioxide, and silicon, where silicon catches heat and turns it into power.

"In the short term we're looking to make a compact infrared power supply, perhaps to replace radioisotope thermoelectric generators." Called RTGs, the generators are used for such tasks as powering sensors for space missions that don't get enough direct sunlight to power solar panels.

The first layer of the device is aluminium and the bottom-most layer is silicon, and in between, there is a gap filled with silicon dioxide that is of thickness 16000 times smaller than our hair. This top layer, which acts as antenna channels the infrared radiation into this silicon dioxide layer that triggers electrical oscillations. Consequently, the electrons will get pushed back and forth in an unusual asymmetric manner, resulting in DC electrical current.
However, this works demands further work as these ideas include making the rectenna's top pattern 2D x's instead of 1D stripes, in order to absorb infrared light over all polarizations; redesigning the rectifying layer to be a full-wave rectifier instead of the current half-wave rectifier; and making the infrared rectenna on a thinner silicon wafer to minimize power loss due to resistance.

There have been many research work coming these days. As everyone is unique in their skill and nature, we and governments must keep on encouraging them so that the depletion of natural resources can be countered.

its really interesting .. so now we can create electricity with a new way where we will use heat coming out from all the things and can produce electricity 👍 .
this process will decrease the heat from environment and will also save us from some disease.

Electricity products produce waste heat. Your article is very useful for us. I am interested on your post. Thanks a lot.......
