At The End Of The Bay

The last two items on my eBay store sold yesterday, albeit each for a fraction of the original listing price. I just wanted to be rid of those items for two reasons.

First, the store had become a zero gain venture. I didn't have enough items listed (hence wasn't selling enough) to make the store fees viable.

The second reason is that I am making a general move away from location dependant sources of income. In this day and age, I think it is possible to be fully location independent and I am planning to give it a good go.

The coffee photo isn't totally irrelevant by the way. 'BAM' stands for Black AMericano haha. It's in a takeaway cup, so I can stay or leave - its up to me.

To be clear, there's a difference between "location independent" and "nomadic". So, just because I'm striving to be the former, doesn't mean I have any desire to be the latter. Clearly though, being location independent does facilitate being nomadic.

In today's world, being too rooted to a land has many disadvantages, depending on who you are and where that land is. My circumstances are such that, it is a little risky to be too rooted. In that scenario, it is only wise that I make myself nimble enough to respond to eventualities.

Apart from that, there's a certain freedom that comes with taking control of one's own life and destiny. Many, if not most, people live their lives passively. I want to be an active contributor to my own story if you know what I mean.

So, eBay, well now I can dedicate the time I spent on that project on my other (digital only) projects. It may be a while before they revenue levels up with eBay, but time will tell. eBay is such a great way to make money - both on the side and full time. It's a simple, straight forward proposition that works.

I'm still going to hold on to the actual account though. Obviously I'm going to have one or two things to sell now and again like my used gadgets and what not. It helps to have a good high reputation account for that. Or I may well return to selling properly on eBay some day, you never know. For now, I just no longer have a store on there.

Anyhow, I better run. This is one of the busiest Sundays for me this year. I can't believe how much I have to do today. This is usually my chill out day 😆

Just sell as a private seller, the business model on ebay sucks. I don't pay any listing fees and take advantage of the £1 fees deals that are coming thick and fast these days.

I think they are struggling against the competition and its about time too.

I'm set to private seller now, yes... but no longer listing. I had upward of 700 items before :)

I have just under 500 items, there's no limits as far as I can see. I have had as many as 650 in the past.

eBay is indeed a good sales solution

Location independence sounds great for sure! I have often thought about something relatively similar as the world become more digital and the possibilities of it. I envision being on the road for the summer while working remotely and it really is inspiring for exploring new experiences!
