I wish steemit inc would allow new users to let steemit inc take custodianship of their keys, like tokenpocket does with the Phone and email login option
I believe steemit inc should provide a keybank for its users if we arent going to be added to coinbase any time soon. Custodial ownership is important for new users and older conservative users who dont trust themselves with new technology that requires them to hold onto a private key when they are more comfortable allowing coinbase or steemit inc hold it as they are less likely to get hacked or loose the key etc.
Steem already has a unique feature of having seperate posting active and owner keys for 3 layers of protection but also a stolen account recovery feature so even if your owner key is stolen, your recovery partner, usually @steemit can successfully track who was first and who was the bad actor and they can return the reset key to the rightful owner even if they remain anonymous since the blockchain tracks who tried to login and post first and who was second etc, even if they try to change the password again and again etc.
Anyway a key bank where steemit inc holds the owner key and provides us with an active and posting key would be really nice for new users who could opt in to providing a phone and email and an optional 2 factor authentication, and even the option to provide an ID or a Skype call to verify they are who they say they are. It could allow steemit inc to keep steemians relatively safe as linga s a few protocols are strictly enforced by steemit inc.
Token pocket does this with EOS accounts as shown in the image, it's one if a few ways to create an account and I really hope a KEY BANK or at least some deal with Yubikey or Lastpass.com is struck with Steemit and @ned
Just imagine how great it would be to hear that coinbase and Coinbase Earn is adding steem, and that YubiKey has a partnership and to hear that steem is added on Ledger Nano S and X AND exodus (which an exodus dev has expressed interest in on twitter)
@ned could come out with a surprise announcement at simultaneous steem launch parties in 100 cities around the world, all watching his Vimm stream and he can launch all of these things and a partnership with steem engine ... I mean if @ned could get coinbase to follow up with their listing of steem.on their coinbase custody maybe list, then steem could finally get added and that would be like EOS block.one announcing eos on coinbase... imagine steem being added to coinbase And launching coinbase earn for steem to educate people on how steem.works...that would be the greatest marketing ever for steem and it SHOULD be happening soon since steem was shown on the lost of tokens coinbase pro said they want to add.
Now imagine a conference where ned announces coinbase AND a new steem front end where people can buy any crypto using steem engine, get an instant account by just providing an existing social media, email, phone, etc bit FAST instant onboarding.... that would be a huge announcement for steem... @steempeak will soon allow for mobile bitcoin ltc and eos wallets all inside a steem app so it will.be a one stop shop like @ned always wanted in fact you already can send pegged BTCp LTCp EOSp to any steem account and they can withdraw it main net btc LTC or eos for just 1% fee
The future of steem is now, we just need to kit bash the pieces together and build some front end splash pages and marketing material to promote it all on YouTube and reddit etc
