Let’s jump right into the news!

EOS Referendum is Live!

The long-awaited EOS Referendum system is live! After getting the last of the 16 BP approval it needed this morning, the referendum contract was deployed to the system account, eosio.forum.

You can check it out for yourself by visiting eos.discussions.app and clicking on the Referendum sub.

As you can see, there is already one referendum here that has been proposed.

What does this mean now that the referendum is live? This means now any token holder can propose a change to the system and if it gets at least 15% of token votes, it’ll be implemented.

This is a huge deal. Up until now, token holders can only through their BP, propose changes.Now, token holders can do it themselves.

So what are some of the things that could be done only via referendum?A lot, like changing how many premium accounts get auction off in day or something like REX!

As I mentioned in the previous video, one of the things holding back REX is the debate of whether or not to include Ram trading fees and premium name auction proceeds to the REX rewards pool.

Because this fundamentally changes the economics of the system, it requires the consensus of the token holders.

And you can see that, if I click on this first referendum right here, that’s exactly what this person wants to do.

Which is to have a vote on REX.

So just to show you how easy the system is, I’ll just log in via scatter, click yes, then hit the vote button and that’ll pop out a scatter confirmation, which you can’t see, but I’ll just confirm that, and there you go!

I’ve just voted yes!

You could also create your own referendum just by clicking on the new post icon.

Here you can see some of the details you’ll need to fil out as well as other things you can do like create a poll.
