Residents in Meulaboh, Aceh Barat District, have a Meugang tradition or eat meat to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.
This tradition of eating together has been done by the people of Aceh every year from generation to generation, one day before the fasting month.

"We in West Aceh has become a Meugang meat eating tradition with families on the beach," said Amri, one of the residents.
According to Amri, every day before the fast, residents in West Aceh from various circles flocked to the beach to eat meat in the tradition of Meugang.
The tradition is done with the family. while enjoying the atmosphere and beauty of the beach recreation in West Aceh.
"To the sea together with the family to welcome the holy month of Ramadan," said Amri.
Meanwhile, according to Nurlela, all the provisions of typical food and meat in the tradition of Meugang brought from their respective homes that have been ready cooked the day before.
Usually, the meat is eaten under a tree with a mat.
"because today is the last meal, tomorrow it's fasting," said Nurlela.
In fact, according to Nurlela, some residents in West Aceh feel not perfect to perform fasting, before carrying out the tradition of Meugang on the beach.
