#Bozzlife : Concert Extravaganza! Part 2steemCreated with Sketch.

in #esteem5 years ago

Yesterday, I wrote this post about some of the concerts that @mrsbozz and I have attended in the eleven years that we have known each other.

It started out as simple one-off post, but about halfway through, I realized it was going to be much too long. As I said, I was halfway through the post and I hadn't even started embedding any of my videos yet.

So here we are again today, revisiting some of the awesome concerts that @mrsbozz and I have attended, this time with embedded video! Sit back, relax, and prepare to enjoy some live clips of songs you know and love (or have never heard of and hate).

About four years ago Columbus, OH started a music festival called the Buckeye Country Music Festival. It was two evenings of music and was held in the stadium where (The) Ohio State Buckeyes play.

The first year @mrsbozz and her sister went to the festival alone. They had such a good time that the next year I decided to go with them. This is a clip from one of the nights that Jason Aldean played. He is one of those artists that doesn't interact with the crowd much. He just stands up there and sings his songs. It was still a great set though.

It was much higher energy than I expected even though he kind of just did his thing. He is one of those artists that actually has more hits that you realize. It was pretty common for a song to start and me to say to myself "oh yeah, he sings that song too".

He probably wasn't my favorite artist of the festival, but I would definitely go see him again if the tickets weren't too outrageously priced.

That same year, but the second day, Florida Georgia Line was at the same festival. They were probably one of my most favorite acts of the whole thing. They continue to put out hit after hit and there is something about their music that is a little unrefined, but unmistakably country.

This song "Dirt" is one of my favorites of theirs. Growing up in the country outside a small(er) town there are lines that I can really relate to in the lyrics.

Another one of our favorite artists from that year of the festival was Thomas Rhett. He had a lot of energy and it was exciting to watch him run around the stage and sing as opposed to Jason Aldean's show described above.

The one bad thing about this festival is the fact that they are trying to fit so many acts into one evening. This makes it difficult for the artists to have much freedom with their setlists. They pretty much have to go on stage, sing their hits and then they are done.

The third year of the festival (second I attended), we chose to only attend one of the nights. The lineup was much more appealing to us that night and since you have to buy separate tickets for each night it wasn't like we were wasting money.

Kip Moore doesn't have a ton of hits, but he has gotten a pretty large fanbase over the years. I think mostly due to his muscles which you can kind of see in the video above. He does have some catchy songs though and recorded this clip of one of my favorites.

Since Zac Brown Band was one of the headlining bands the night we went, they had a little more freedom with their setlist. As can be seen here in this clip of them covering "Bohemian Rhapsody". They put on a fantastic show and I would definitely go see them again if I got the chance.

In the past I have seen them booked at Ford Field in Detroit, but I don't think that would be a great show. The acoustics in the enclosed stadium don't make it very conducive for live shows. Ask @mrsbozz about the Bon Jovi concert she saw there and she will tell you how horrible it is.

The Buckeye Country Music Festival took a year off, but this Summer they are goign to be back with headliners George Strait and Blake Shelton. I'd love to see King George, but we have other plans that weekend.

This past Summer I got a chance to see Darius Rucker in concert with @mrsbozz and some of her family. I had already seen him once and we saw him together when he was still with Hootie and the Blowfish.

It was an outdoor show and severe weather was heading in, but we were able to see the whole thing before the storms came. I grabbed this clip of his cover of "Wagon Wheel", but in my opinion his best song of the night was "Hands on Me" off his latest album.

Speaking of "Hands on Me", "Lay Your Hand's on Me" is one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs and I knew I had to include this clip in the post.

Bon Jovi is @mrsbozz's favorite band, she had seen them three or four times before her and I started dating and since we have been together we have seen them another three or four times.

This clip is from their recent "This House is not for Sale" tour. It was a great show down in Columbus, OH at the hockey arena where the Blue Jackets play. It's actually a really great venue, not too big but not too crowded either. Even the nosebleed seats give you a pretty good view.

And speaking of the arena in Columbus, OH several years ago I had the absolute joy of taking @mrsbozz and two of our nieces to see Taylor Swift on her 1989 World Tour there.

Call it a guilty pleasure, but I am a huge Taylor Swift fan. I am slowly getting into her new album the more I listen to it, but in my opinion, Red and 1989 is some of her finest work. She does such an amazing job of crafting stories with her songs. It is almost like she is weaving a tapestry via lyrics.

Enjoy the above clip of "Shake it Off".

I've actually got about five more videos, but I am going to close with this clip of Sammy Hagar singing "Poundcake". It is probably one of my favorite Van Halen songs and is off the "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" album.

I went to this concert with my friend and we had a really good time. I personally hadn't realized that Sammy Hagar had so many songs outside of Van Halen. His current band consists of another former member of Van Halen, another guy (sorry), and the drummer from Led Zepplin's son.

This prompted them to play some Zepplin songs too, so it was a great rocking night. I am really thankful my friend invited me.

Thanks for coming along again on this concert extravaganza! I have a row of tickets stuck to our fridge with magnets, so I am sure there will be more posts like this in the future!

I've seen George Strait. You talk about not much movement. Keith Richards looks like a buzz saw compared to George :)

Sammy Hagar was one of my favorites long before he joined Van Halen and again after. IMO he is way more melodic than David Lee, but the fans didn't much agree. I have to admit I mostly think of David Lee vocals when I think of Van Halen...

Nice review, a lot of good times wrapped up in those videos.

Thanks, yeah, I am a fan on both iterations of Van Halen, but I really prefer the Hagar stuff. I was able to pick up 5150 on vinyl a year or two ago and it is one of my favorite records to spin when I am down in my office. That's awesome that you were able to see George Strait. Hopefully after this he will come out of retirement and I will still get the chance to see him someday.

Wow... you love these stadium style concerts! Are you down in the mosh pit? I remember being down in that area when I was younger... not sure I would chance my luck in there these days!

I've only done the moshpit once and there is no way I would do it again. Yeah we like the big shows! 😁

You've been to some monster concerts, when I was younger I would go to all the concerts in San Antonio because my sister worked for the biggest rock station 99.5 KISS. I was backstage at every one. I'm so happy @qurator featured your post tonight. It was fun listening to those songs live. 👍👍

Thanks I appreciate it. Wow, that is awesome that you were able to be backstage at all of those shows!
