The benefits of fasting from a medical standpoint.

Fasting for a Muslim is worship, and is an obligation to run it. But besides, fasting has a lot of benefits in terms of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
This post I want to share a little information about the benefits of fasting for the health of the body, although we as moslem do not fast for that purpose.

From a health point of view, there are many benefits to be gained by someone during fasting. In fact, many of the results of research reports both in the field of medical science and health nutrition that shows the truth of the benefits of fasting for health

Fasting Regulate Blood Sugar Levels Especially on Diabetes Militus Patients

Fasting is great in lowering the sugar content to a level of balance. Based on this, fasting actually lights the sugar in the blood and gives the pancreas a chance to rest, so that the pancreas works out the insulin that neutralizes the sugar into starch and the fat becomes light.

Increasing Endurance Body

Fasting also can increase endurance. The mechanism, among others, is the reduction of calorie consumption will make the energy metabolism decrease. The proof, the fasting body temperature will decrease, and it indicates a reduction in oxygen consumption. Fasting will also reduce the production of oxygen compounds that are toxic (oxygen-free radicals).

detoxification

Detoxification is a normal process of the body to eliminate or purify toxins through the liver, colon, kidneys, lungs, lymph glands, and skin. This process is accelerated by fasting, because when the food no longer enters the body, the body will convert fat deposits into energy..

Beneficial for the Heart

Some studies say there is actually no striking difference when fasting than when not fasting. Ramadan fasts do not drastically affect the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Although elevated serum uria and uric acid occur frequently during mild dehydration during fasting. When fasting there was an increase in HDL and alpha apoproteins. LDL decrease itself is very beneficial for heart health and blood vessels. Some "chronobiological" studies have shown that Ramadan fasting influences the rhythm of decreased circadian distribution of body temperature, cortisol hormone, melatonin and glycemia. These seemingly mild changes also play a role in improving human health.
