Ulog 22: Marking exam practice paper

As you can see from the above photograph, it is the time of the year for many of our local school teachers to prepare our students for the coming final exam to evaluate how much they have learnt for the year.

As much as I am a strong believer of the joy of learning through fun, I will still need to face the reality that my students will need to take the end of year exam where their marks do make a difference.

It is not only a time that only students are feeling stressed, teachers are feeling more stressed as we want to ensure that we have given enough practice of actual exam type questions.

For each set that we assigned our class to do, we would be marking about 40 sets since there are 40 students in a typical class in my local schools.

To all the teachers out there who are preparing their students for exam, we have no regrets when we have given our best.

There may always be some who have learning difficulties. Through exam, we can group them in a suitable class that can cater to his learning needs.

Exam should not be treated as a measurement of how good a child is but the opportunity to provide different learners with a class next year that can cater to their learning needs more effectively.

Just like this experiment that was conducted in my school to see how plant can produce oxygen with the suitable amount of light given.

Let's raise the self-worth of each child by providing the best possible learning group so that every child can learn but some is given more time to progress.
