Bitcoin traded at $ 7.618.8, jumping 2.43% in Bitfinex exchange, at 7:20 pm, not far from its session high of $ 7,659.80.
Other digital coins recovered on Wednesday. Ethereum,
the second largest cryptocurrency in the world by market capitalization, jumped 2.69% to $ 604.17 on Bitfinex exchange. Ripple, the third-largest virtual currency, added 1.42% to $ 0.67019 temporarily Litecoin was at $ 121.42, driving 3.04%.
Most of the virtual currency fell in May after the US Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into the possibility that traders manipulated the Bitcoin market. The virtual currency is now struggling to gain momentum since Bitcoin tumbled 20% in early May.
The market capitalization of the slightly elevated coin reached $ 344 billion at the time of writing compared to $ 335 billion Tuesday.
In regulatory news, the Stock Exchange Commission (SEC) of the US appoints the first crypto senior adviser. Valerie A. Szczepanik will work on the commission's financial division and will be responsible for implementing US securities law applications related to emerging "digital asset technologies" such as initial coin offerings and crypto currency.
Meanwhile the trading company Susquehanna International Group plans to offer Bitcoin Berjangka and other digital coin products, joining other major financial players.
"We believe that this technology and asset class will change some aspects of financial services, and we think it will be forever," said head of digital asset group Susquehanna, Bart Smith.
As the virtual currency gets more and more popular, Wall Street merchants have already offered futures trading services.
