Earlier India won the toss and opted to bat first on a lovely Mohali cricket stadium which was favoring the batsmen. Indian openers proved a decision right by playing beautiful strokes all around the ground. Richardson ended the first wicket partnership when Rohit Sharma departed after scoring 95 runs.

Dhawan was in sublime touch. He made brilliant 143 runs. He faced only 115 balls. His inning was furnished with 18 fours and three towering sixes. Virat Kholi fall cheaply. He managed only 7 runs. Pant quick 36 and Vijay Shankar brisk 26 runs helped India to set a target of 359 runs on the board. For Australia Cummins was the most successful bowler. He took 5 wickets, Richardson took 3 while Zampa took 1 wicket.

Captain Finch departed with out any score. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the bowler. Marsh also fall cheaply. He managed 6 runs. At this stage Australia was 12 for the loss of 2 wickets. Handscomb joined Usman Khawaja in the middle. Both played a sensible innings and played brilliants shorts all around the ground. They made a great partnership of 192 runs. Khawaja departed after scoring 91 runs. Maxwell made quick 23 runs in just 13 balls.

Meanwhile Handscomb completed his century. He scored 117 runs. After the dismissal of Maxwell match was tilted into India favor but turner was in different mood. He charged the bowler and played shorts all around the ground. He remained not out on 84. He faced only 43 balls. His inning was furnished with 5 four and 6 towering sixes. Australia surpassed the score in 47.5 over. This was the Australia highest score to chase. For India Bumrah was the most successful bowler. He took 3 wickets.

On his fine performe with the bat Turner was awarded player of the match award. The series came alive after the win of Australia in the 4th ODI. It makes the 5th ODI decisive. Let's see who took the cup.
