Poem: On the Winds of Love
This was my entry a Spoken Word Contest. I scribbled these words during the show - it is dedicated to my husband.
The theme was "Be My Valentine".
The day we met was like no other,
Being tossed about on the waves.
Everyone and everything looked beautiful,
The clothes, the smiles, the perfect conversations.
You were quiet, pensive, not saying much.
However, our eyes met and said more that we could utter,
They beckoned the words which conquered our senses.
We traversed lands near and far – alone - but now shared together.
Our words flowed easily and could not stop.
Surrounded by many but lost in each other - we were just two.
Like the wind in the sails our love was charted and unabated,
We fell for each other “hook, line and sinker!”
Then soon you spoke those words I will always remember,
"I love your smile, your style, your personality, I love your company,
I love you."
They knocked the wind out of me
and still does so many years later.
I loved you yesterday and still today and for sure tomorrow.
Every boat reminds me of you.
Our love is like the sunset on the day we met, rising and setting,
Ever going - on forever………………
