Short story from Aceh Besar.

in #esteem5 years ago

This is Panca, a village far from urban, but so very close to Seulawah Agam.

Located on the slopes of a volcano, Lembah Seulawah Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency, Panca was once the belle of agricultural and plantation villages.

The best leadership period of 'The Dictator'; Soeharto, Panca, which was once an area of forestry, was transformed by the transmigration program. People in the Javanese land were brought here; Aceh, to reduce unemployment and equalize the population in Indonesia.

According to stories from my mother's siblings; I call 'Nyak Mu', when Transmigration was first opened, there were also many Acehnese who joined in registering, to be given a place to live, and a decent source of livelihood.

Long story short,

Nyak Mu also participated in the program, and was taken to Panca; the name pinned for the township. With the initial capital provided by the government, in the form of one simple housing unit, and two hectares of land for farming and gardening, there are also a variety of wood seeds and fertilizers.

Year after year, Aceh at that time experienced a severe conflict between GAM and RI, many Javanese tribes there were forced to return to their place of origin in Javanese land, and if they did not go home they were ready to die there. Even though the Acehnese who lived in Panca were no exception, they were easy targets for the state apparatus, the fruit of the retaliation of the treatment of local separatists against the Javanese.

Now, Alhamdulillah, things have improved and are gradually recovering, there is no need to worry anymore and the people have returned home to be able to continue their lives. It's just that, the people there need good access to urban areas, and of course adequate facilities and infrastructure to support agricultural products.
