Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

in #esteem6 years ago

How do we even define Goodness or Evil?

How do we separate the Bad from the Good?

On what Moral Basis , do we say one is good and one is Bad?

I will say, according to my own absolute opinion, that the generalized state of the Human Conscience is enough to help establish a state of morality that can be used to judge Good and Evil?

Yet, this is still a very shaky idea upon which many strifes has erupted because the human conscience has been differently cultured to accept right and wrong differently.

Sometimes in life, we begin to ask ourselves deep questions; questions that might never get answered.

Questions like; Why am I here? Where am I going when I leave? Where are all the dead? If I wasn't born into this world, what would have happened? Where will I be? Why do people have to die? Why are some people born with life-threatening illnesses? Why do we have people born with blindness and other disabilities? Why are the seemingly wicked fellows not always being punished by nature for their cruelty? Why do people have to suffer for the wrong doings of others (eg, a drunk driver knocking down a passerby)? Why do some people do the same thing, in the same way and yet get different results?

As beautiful as all these questions seem, they could corrupt or othrwise, promote the sanity of the mind. Here are my conclusions:

  • Whatever you do, let your conscience be the judge, and let it not sentence you to the emotional jail of guilt and remorse. In short, I am saying it pays to act according to the dictates of morality your conscience communicates.

  • Train your conscience to understand and establish a near-perfect state of right and wrong by staying fervent in the acquisition of knowledge.

  • Ask Questions , find Answers but don't conclude wrongly.

All I have said, hopefully, will help us all be a better person.

This part strikes me most

Ask Questions, find Answers but don't conclude wrongly.

I've always believed it's best to do just accordingly what my instincts says. The mind knows best what's right and wrong and I tend to see things from that perspective even when others do things. For what I feel it's right to me, might not be to the next person and vice versa.

I feel there's no universal right or wrong, except we go spiritual or constitutional.....even these varies depending on which spiritual belief you have or the country in which you are her citizen.

Thanks for this wonderful post @ogoowinner, glad I was able to read it.

Great words!

The whole of law, and the whole of the essence of life is to Know Thyself

When you truly KNOW YOURSELF, you know LOVE

Love is all, and all is love. Love is the line that intersects all things, bad and good, light and darkness, negative and positive, good and evil. But the truth is there is no such thing as good or bad, these are just the creations of the mind. The dualistic state of all this phenomenon in this “reality” is all illusions for in true reality, everything exists as one, which is love.

“Good” and “bad”, “positive” and “negative” has to exist, for the universe to be balanced.

“Bad” things are “good” things and “good” things are “bad” things

And so when you truly know yourself, you don’t do good or bad things anymore. You only do one thing, which is Purpose.

I usually don’t really follow up your blog, but I will from now on!

Thanks!

Wow! Your view of life is truly awesome. Love and purpose is all that matters. Thanks for reading and commenting @lifegoalmentor.

Very thought-provoking piece there, @ogoowinner.

One thing I'll add however -- since our consciences have been conditioned to accept right and wrong differently -- is: whatever we do, we should put ourselves in the other person's shoes (or in the shoes of whoever would be affected by our actions or inaction).

This way, it wouldn't just be about what feels good to you, but about caring about other people's feelings.

For example, if you drop banana peels on a walkway, it might not seem evil to you...but imagine if it was someone else that dropped it and you accidentally stepped on it...and it broke your limbs. Sure you don't want that...why would you want someone else to go through that?

If we all always think this way before we act, this world would be a much better place.

Thanks for the great post!

Thank you my lady..

Even at that, some people conscience has been so corrupted that nothing good is coming out of it again.

For instance, someone that is thinking of harming another fellow, if his conscience is right, he won't think that way not to talk of doing it.

Some people can kill or commit all sorts of atrocity without feeling guilty about it. That is how dirty their conscience are.

They have a dead conscience.

It's obvious...

Bad things happen to good people because the things we consider to be BAD are actually GOOD in the eyes of the MASTER PLANNER.

So when a pastor gets killed by assassins, we feel its bad and terrible, but maybe God has seen that if the pastor stays a little longer on earth, he or she will miss heaven and he decided to call the pastor home.

FOR AS FAR AS THE HEAVENS ARE ABOVE THE EARTH, SO IS THE WAY OF GOD DIFFERENT FROM THE WAY OF MAN!

What you have just shared is very insightful. It is something worth thinking about.

Big question.but we must keep pushing and keep living even when the future is uncertain.

Good people have to follow a path which can not be followed by everyone this way test us out throughout the way
