So surprised to see a squirrel eating this!

We were on a walk and I saw a squirrel with a spiky thorn seed in his mouth. I really thought that they wouldn't eat the spiky thorn seed pods because of their sharp thorns.
If one steps barefoot on one of these spiky pods, you wouldn't be able to walk for at least a week, as their thorns are very sharp.
The thorns however don't seem to trouble the squirrel's soft cheeks. I would love to see how he opens the pod to get to the seeds inside.
I have a variety of photos for you as usual!
Let's take a look!

Here's a closer look at the spiky thorn pods.
They grow on a Japanese Maple Tree.

What do you see on this line of tree trunks?

Ah! It's another squirrel with a nut!

Now for some other beauties!

Finally, some oak tree leaves falling down.

So amazing to take a stroll here in nature and for one's soul to drink in the beauty all around. One can venture anytime into nature and encounter different beauties due to the manifold secrets that reside in the growth.

A sense of freedom envelops one and the sounds in nature stroke one's ears. Deep breaths of crispy mountain air and the rustle of the wind in the trees calms the nerves to such an extent that one feels as if one's floating across the landscape.

Really some good medicine for stress in nature!

I would never have thought that a squirrel would go for those spiky pods, that did surprise me, and what a beautiful selection and variety of shots

Those thorns are so sharp JJ, but I have a new theory.
He picks them when they are still green, as their thorns have not hardened yet.
He then buries them and wait for the shells to disintegrate.
Clever or what?

That makes so much sense to me that is most likely what they do :)

Great shots, as always my friend.

Thank you Sir Norbert!
Thanks also for the kind visit.
Blessings!
